Re: Glasses. Plastic/glass. Safest?

I didn't know there were safety sunglasses.

But I know they won't work for me. I need good quality lenses. I can't wear bad ones, they drive me nuts, except my evening yellow ones.

Glasses. Plastic/glass. Safest?

I've started wearing my Rayban sunnies (glass lenses) because my cycling specific ones are dying and the 3 replacements - with 100's of great reviews on Amazon - are rubbish. Because the Raybans are glass, I'm a little nervous about what would happen if I crashed. Are plastic/polycarbonate safer? Or...

Re: Oman?

Sorry. I was stuck in a beautiful valley in the French Alps for a week - without reception.

If I can get a good deal on a flight then I may try dec/jan which should be the coolest months.

Wolf.

Good Morning. Yesterday I was driving up the Col de la Cayolle, French Alpes, and got stuck at 1800m in a snow storm (I have a camper van - so perfect). This morning, 07:45 (french), a wolf walked past my van. About 50m away. 5 minutes in passing. Only seen 2. Last one was in Alaska. Very happy. Enj...

I've done a fair few scuba dives just off your bivi spot. Lots of scallops there.
A great island for cycling round.

Oman?

I'm trying to get some ideas for this autumn's trip. 3 to 4 weeks. I'm after desert riding and 1st on my list is Namibia. But prices for flights are too high. (Just read The Sheltering Desert). Oman is next. Flights are good. Maybe transiting through or starting in Dubai. Crazy fast drivers, but lot...

Re: Round the world cycle

I have been thinking about doing an rtw for years. Having read most of the rtw books; one thing that puts me off and is common to all the books, is it is almost impossible to complete without riding on some very dangerous highways. You can read chapter after chapter of great countryside riding but t...

Re: Baja Divide

U tube - Ryan Van Duzer. He did a few vids of the trail. The best part was riding along the coastal desert (Pacific) between very remote, little fishing villages. This was a long time ago and was all dirt tracks. It may be all roaded now and full of RVs. The inner desert was beautiful, if you like d...

Re: Baja Divide

I did a 2 week trip down through the top part of Baja. Starting in San Diego. But it was long before the 'official' route was made. I don't bother mentioning it any more because it seems these days, that if you don't do the Bikepacking-com route then you didn't do it properly. A bit like my first de...

Re: Tent advice - Lunar Solo

Interesting I'd avoided them in the past on the basis that they're too small for tall people. But there is indeed conflicting information here For those above 6'2, do you find the side walls to be sloping down in your face? Particularly when raining or windy. And if it's not 100% flat do you find y...

Re: Tent advice - Lunar Solo

From reading the above posts, it looks like there may be a lot of variation in sizes between them. 6'2" is too small. But mine would easily fit someone 6'6" in a thick bag. Flappy v not flappy. Bath tub floor v not. Maybe the final 'cuts' of material is not very accurate. Or again, maybe j...

Re: Medical cirtificate of fitness?

I have had a few, but in France. It's a basic check-up. Make sure the doc names the sport you are going to do. And any other sports such as scuba diving etc that you may want to do as well. It usually has to be done within a year. Main problem is that some 'Frenchies' refuse them if they are not wri...

Re: Tent advice - Lunar Solo

I have one. A few points worth mentioning. The advertising shows it as dark forest green. Mine arrived as bright light green. Which stands out in most areas I have used it. Not happy with that as I do a lot of wild camping. The zip is fragile and am I not sure it will last long. The bathtub floor is...

Re: Andalucia - Winter Sun

2 years late but nice post.
Just doing some research as I am down here now. Looking for a route. Only problem is - in the hills it's about 2°C at night. And my 4 season bag is big. Days are great though.

60kg?
