Re: Fat bike wanted

I’ve got a new unridden Medium Ritchey Commando frameset with wheels and some other build bits I’m looking to offload. PM me if interested.

Anyone signed up to do this on Sunday? Slightly concerned by potential conditions following recent rain!

Re: ritchey commando

Ah, you’re right Jose. Looks like wheels will be the most expensive part of the build.

I’m considering a pair of Alpkit’s Love Mud fat wheels - seem great value at £279.00

Re: ritchey commando

Was tipped off earlier that Planet X have SRAM Gx fat cranks (170mm, 28t) on offer at £40 so picked up a set. On inspection the cheapest place to get a 100mm gx bb is Tredz

Re: Charlie's Dorset Gravel Dash - suitable for a first time

Myself and a friend are going, and it will also be our first bikepacking experience. We did the bikemonger bimble in 2016 which was also around the purbecks over one day. Lovely route and we had a right laugh drinking with Charlie and a few other really friendly participants that night. Can’t wait!

Re: South Downs Way tyre choice

Thank you for the offer but I'm nowhere near Banbury. Think if it's still wet next week I'll try the Gatos or maybe buy some specialized storm controls which worked well on the Downs for me a few years back.

Re: South Downs Way tyre choice

Cheers. I've got some Geax Gatos mud tyres that might do the trick, Spesh Ground Control or Maxxis Ardent 2.4. Also potentially I could stick a plus sized wheel in the front. Only have Knards in that size though which aren't the best in the wet.

South Downs Way tyre choice

Will be doing the SDW over a leisurely 3 days with friends next week and given current weather I'm getting a little concerned over tyre choice. I'll be on a rigid Surly Ogre, wondered if anyone has ridden the route in the last week and how they fared on the wet chalk! Thanks Tom
