My quilt has sprung an internal leak.
As per title, the down in my UK Hammocks quilt has migrated between the internal dividers. It hasn’t lost any down, but lots of it has moved internally from the top/shoulder end into the foot box. This will be a problem in the cold months. I can feel that the divider has parted from the top or botto...

Catching a train to Bangor, then cycling across to Anglesey to bivvy with my son, daughter and a grandson. Already done my August BaM so this is a bonus.

Re: The Hebridean Way
Hmpf! I was in that neck of the woods at the same time as you - visited some of the same places, but although we had the same weather, while it was good for you, it was rubbish for me. I was supposed to be sailing but the weather was calm and sunny. In the four weeks I was on the ship, we had just f...

Re: Wildlife
No photos, but a horrible wildlife encounter in our yard. Mrs Frog noticed that the magpies were making a lot of noise by the gate leading to the paddock. When I went to look, I could see that a hawk, or some-such, had caught a magpie and was holding it down on the ground and the other magpies were ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
BaM August. 8/8 for 2021 I was lost for ideas for this months’ BaM, eventually settling for a 1 hour drive to the Clocaenog forest. Parked close to Lyn Brenig and rode around the lake and the Alwen reservoir on what I found (from a sign board) to be the Two Lakes Trail. Shortly after starting I came...

And if you want an extreme case - check out Glenfiddich lodge The whole place was abandoned and the new owner (who lives elsewhere) isn't interested in doing anything with it so it has just been left, complete with furnishings..... https://i.ibb.co/kD7ZtZt/20180505-150220.jpg There is another one j...

Nice write-up, but whatever happened to that little boy you used to ride with? He's grown a bit, hasn’t he?

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
Nice to see the fairly rare two-wheel tarp config as well  . I’m still trying to come to terms with “tarping”. Using the wheels is another step in the endeavour. When I’ve used the Holden pitch I’ve found it to be a little low at the foot end. The wheel was an attempt to address this. In the...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
A last minute BAM for July. That's 7/7 for this year. Start near Llangollen and trundle along the canal towpath to where the Ellesmere canal begins, then back lanes to Glyndyfrdwy (on the A5), then start climbing. Lots of climbing to the summit of Moel Ferna and down to the old slate quarry of that ...

'S very cheery for me. I'm on the Pelican of London tall ship in Loch Bay on the Isle of Skye. It's the eighteenth birthday of someone on board. We've been to the pub, had some ceilidh dancing on board and partaken of a few slugs of rum. The sky is clear, there's a beautiful sunset and I'm still up ...

Re: Todays ride
Went for a wobble round the woods last night with MuddyPete. Very convivial as we stopped for a drink instead and unfortunately it was. We were given table 42 (strange - there were only about ten tables) which allowed me to continue the philosophical mood.... 42... beer... beer... 42... geddit?.......

Re: Wildlife
Their natural instinct is to reproduce, to swarm. In may/June the beekeeper can manipulate the hive to make them think they have swarmed. This is what I’ve just done with my two hives. I'm going to be away for four weeks, so I won’t be here to keep an eye on them. So to stop 'em swarming, I've spli...

Any apiarists in the house? We appear to have some visitors in Coleridge Close  :o . Looks like a good big swarm, that, in the right season too. Well worth collecting by a beekeeper. The saying goes:- “A swarm in May is worth a load of hay, A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon, A swarm in...

god I didn’t register saying hello to you at the WRT! You would have been fine. I haven’t got COVID - I had it last year, and had both jabs since then. It’s just that I’ve been close to someone that’s got it, so Track'nTrace have put me and Mrs Frog in solitary confinement. She's had both jabs too....

Jaysus, Lu, that gave me a real lurch in the stomach on your behalf. Massive commiserations. Fukc, fukc, fukc. Ah well! The saying, "It is what it is..." was coined for just such occasions as this. And, all may not yet be lost :YMPRAY: I've only got to isolate until 18th - that's only 5 d...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
It was cheery Friday until a quarter of an hour ago. All packed ready to go, tomorrow, on a 5 week sailing adventure on a tall ship around the Western Isles. Then got the call from Test & Trace. My big adventure has gone up in smoke - isolating at home until 18th June. I don't yet know if I can ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
Can't believe you chose that shonky looking hammock setup over the top quality den next door  . If I’d known it was there maybe I’d have brought stuff to sleep on the ground. The den is built up against the tree I had hung my hammock from the last time I was here (BaM Nov 2015). Anyway, I’d h...

BaM for June. 6/6 A very short BaM for this month, just off the Bishop Bennetts way. Start out late (after tea), didn't go far (12 miles), didn't cook anything, (except brew morning cuppa), back home for late breakfast. This was my last chance for a June BaM because I'll be busy/working this week be...

Late post, but hey-ho. Here is my BaM for May, at the WRT 2021. This was my grandsons' first foray into bikepacking, although he does do a lot of mountain biking with his mates. So, from BBTowers to Pont Crugnant, then up to the top of the Trannon wind farm. Last year, my son and I descended through...

Can't believe there aren't loads of cheery Boners - WRT for goodness sake! Highlight Of The Year! Utterly pointless going to any other events. Honestly. So I don't. Lots of cheeriness over here. All packed up. My 16 year old grandson is joining me this time, as minder. But his mum has said I’ve got...

You don't have to be in team  or team :-W You can go for a ride without caring how fast or how far, without criticising someone for measuring either. Similarly, you can go out to cover a set distance at a set pace, without making assumptions about other people's hairstyle choices. And you can ...
