Ortlieb do a Top Tube bag, and it’s as good as their panniers, with lots of strap adjustment options and great warranty back up.

If you want to ride one and visit old stuff, you can follow Stanegate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanegate for long stretches, partly on NCN72 (Hadrian's Cycleway). Stanegate predated the wall.

Planning a 'South Lakes Spring Break', probably 25-26 March, probably with more 'gravel bikeable' options and definitely accessible by train.
Will post details once it's dark and cold and it's nice to put some dates on a calendar.

That Seek Outside Eolus looks a bargain at $205 and then you add the inner/gsheet and sealed seams and it's nearly $500. And then you need pole(s) A Big Agnes Copper Spur can be had for £350 or a Tiger Wall for £315. My Copper Spur tidily fits on a bar roll, with homemade extra groundsheet, or at a ...

Nice sounding trip and the lack of midges sounds weird, as I was getting bitten in the garden near Keswick.

OS software suggests 58,570ft or 17,852m
The middle loop, on my eTrex20 was 25,260ft or 7,700m in May
I'd agree that the Trackleaders data there is way off.

Begs the question - How much bulkier are your dirty knickers...........? It's just the same old 'next great thing to sell bikes/kit'. Aero will be big and would have arrived more widely, earlier without the whole covid delays thing I reckon. 3T and others have been selling it for years. I keep seein...

Compare what you've seen to quality steel offerings e.g. Shand. Call them and describe what you're after, as the weld up the frames in Scotland and can offer custom options. Worth shopping around. I've had, and still have steel, Ti and carbon frames. for a hardtail (if not going for race lightweight...

Cairngorm loop and just 'dawdle' round the outer loop*, finishing down Glen Tilt?
Wouldn't be hard to have a bit of a social the night before and some perfect camp/bivi opportunities, with good resupply.

Wrapping the post loses drop though. I get full drop with the DP mount.
If it's just to save scratching the post though - inner tube wrap.

I think one issue limiting them is the lack of clearance to the rear tyre once dropped. Not an issue on my XL frames.

Alex on the Tollie path - pretty scrappy in places due to them replacing overhead lines. He may be riding the Torridon section in the dark, which is a shame.
