Re: The post man's been ...

I used to run a cross bike with campag centaur but a shimano wheel and used an American classic conversion cassette. Shifting was very close to being as slick as my other wheel with a proper campag cassette on

that looks a nice job, did you have the stay reshaped at all? the lack of clearance always annoyed me, made worse by running a 22/36

Re: Solid Fuel Tabs - Are They Hygroscopic?

Funny that I had my chainstay fixed earler this year on my 853 Inbred after finally one too many chain incidents. It's now better than new. Got any pics? I had a Ragley style job done to finally fix the clearance http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt348/shawnmcfarlane/DSC02694.jpg http://i626.photob...

That sounds interesting alright. Any details on the route at all or do we have to buy the book?

Re: What big trip for 2013?

Since I realised last week that the North Sea Cycle Route almost passes my house I quite fancy doing a section of that from further North in Scotland down to mine. Seems mostly quiet roads so I quite like the idea of taking the Pompino. Need to talk the Mrs into dropping me off up North. Would like ...

Now that I have a bike with Marys and Midges I can't help feeling I need a 3rd bike with mungos on

Re: The post man's been ...

I've a pair of those bars but never found an occasion to fit/use 'em??? I've not got on with normal drops before due to an old neck injury so I thought I'd give the midge a go as a very short reach and drop option....plus I think they look cool :geek: Also means I may be the first bloke in history ...

Re: Winter bivi/bothy/hammock gala 2012 (Scotland)

I need to build up some singlespeeding legs before I'd attempt using it for a longer ride like that! I mostly built it up for riding about the back lanes and a few paths near where I live. The Inbred will be out as usual. Whereever we go I'm expecting a bit of a mud fest the way the weather has been...

Re: Suspension forks

The on one steel are quite a bit harsher than the carbon ones but the steels are ok with a big enough front tyre (2.4 ardent). They are on the harsher end of a rigid fork but they track well and you are never gonna kill them! I sold my carbon ones and kept the steel ones as they are better for strap...

Can you get off the back off the saddle with a saddlebag on?

Probably also weighs quite alot compared to the newer fabrics used on seatpacks

I'm down to just my Inbred at the moment after splitting up my Kona full suss. I don't really like stuff sitting about that doesn't get used.

There is a Pompino frame in the post to me though

You need a post mount to rear IS adaptor, which one will depend on what size disc you are using
