Yes we should FLV, we’ve probably passed each other on the trails at some point.
I have been a proper bivvy-no-mates on BaM this year.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
A bit of a late write up for November's bivvy. It was a proper last minute one on Saturday 30th. I had some food at home and left the family all looking very snug with the log burner going, it was very tempting to not bother going... Anyhow, I had a short ride up to Mellor Cross and the bivvy spot i...

I have a couple of others that are brand new and unused - I will list them just now.

Re: Budget sleeping pad?
He’s used my standard (185cm) pad and he says it’s fine, he curls up a bit I think.
I’ve seen Borderer’s one for sale, but it’s a pressie for him so prefer to get a new one.

Lazarus, 2-3 season I’m thinking spring - summer - autumn. Will have a look at multimat ones, Ta.
Stu, that Exped one looks good vfm thanks, I could probably stretch to few more pennies.

Budget sleeping pad?
I know I might be expecting too much, but here goes. I’m looking for an inflatable sleeping pad for my son. Needs to be lightish, say not more than 600/700g, lighter is better of course, full length (he’s 6’3”) and have a bit of insulation, say 2-3 season use, R value 3. He’s a backpacker more than ...

Re: Cooking stove recommendations
I’ve been using a meths burner and windshield from Speedster Stoves for a while now. Very simple and basic but does the job. Weighs not much at all. Costs <£5 for the burner. I use it for boiling water in a 450ml ti pot. Meths doesn’t work so well at low temps, I sometimes use an MSR pocket rocket i...

Re: Straight Outta Door - Ride from home Trips.
A bit of repetition here - have posted this in the Bivvy a Month thread, so will keep it brief. Headed out from home Sat mid-day in the rain to do a big loop in the south Peak. I got a bit of a soaking for the first couple of hours til it cleared up and got cold. Lots of floods and overflowing river...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
October BaM 10/10 Saturday morning I alternated between watching the rugby (hurrah!) and watching the rain siling down outside (boo!). Come 11:30 it didn't look like stopping so I packed up anyway and headed out of the door by 12. I had a loose idea to head off down towards Buxton and pick up the So...

Thumbs up to Thermarest
I sent my old (8 years) and rather battered thermarest Neoair back to Cascade Designs in Ireland a couple of weeks back. It had developed an unsightly “bulge” where the baffles had come unstuck. I thought I’d be cheeky and send it back to the Warranty department, expecting a knock back or at best ma...

Thanks Mariner will look at that. I do think it is the device though because it will connect then lose it again seconds later.

Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...
My Garmin is a couple of years old and has worked without problems til now. I mostly use it to record rides for my Strava account. Last week it started having trouble locating satellites, so it would take maybe 5 minutes to find satellites then lose them as soon as you start moving. I haven’t change...

Re: BB200 sightings?
That’s good to hear Reg. We’re at Swansea next week, but I think Aber will win, without any additional pushing from me. He’s not a cyclist but loves the outdoors, hillwalking, backpacking, canoeing etc. He also plays rugby so that should work out too! Oh, and the course and department seemed great, ...

BB200 sightings?
We’ve been over in Aberystwyth today for the Uni open day (son is thinking of studying there). On the way back, about 4ish, I spotted a gaggle of bike packing bikes outside a cafe in Machynlleth as we drove through. I haven’t been following the BB200 chat so didn’t realise it was this weekend, just ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
September done on Sunday night. Squeezed this one in a bit last minute and didn't have much spare time so it was out from home at about 6pm, short ride up onto Chinley Churn and found a nice spot overlooking the valley. It was dark by the time I put the tent up so only one picture. https://live.stat...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
I planned to ride from work on Friday for a Peak bivvy. Sat in the office next to a 3m high window with the rain lashing outside all day dampened my spirits somewhat... I set off in the afternoon, got a proper soaking, and found that my handlebars turned for home, there was no stopping them 🙁 So tha...

Re: Bonkers time triallists
All good points Dave. It could well be that it looked riskier than it really was, and I may have felt quite different if I’d been on a bike rather than watching from behind the wheel. Human perception of risk is very inaccurate. As for signage - there wasn’t any where I joined the DC (at a slip road...
