Re: Ford Fiesta entries now open.

If I arrive latish on Friday, is there any problem parking a van/smallish motorhome on the community centre car park for the night or am I likely to be turfed off at 2 in the morning. I'm really just being tight and trying to avoid paying for a B&B for a night and I can't find any open camp site...

Entered. Hopefully another cold and dry one, either way it's better than the weekend at my Mother in law's.

Re: Bivvy a month 2014 thread.

Third one done, a quiet night on the Plateau de Vaucluse. But it's going to get harder now. France is relatively easy, just have to avoid Wednesdays and weekends to avoid getting shot, around this area anyway. Similar problem in Northamptonshire but with less hills. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/730...

Re: T 'n B ... where you going?

Nowhere near as fit as you lot, so a very unambitious loop S then up to and through Carno. Then looping back N, sleep, and back for early tea and cake. Only 30 miles or so and only 1 Spar......I feel inadequate already :(

Re: There 'n back ... entries open.

Paid up for my second go at this, so I must have enjoyed it.
I'm about as likely to get "there" as I was to get to "El" last time.
Actually I'm just coming for the tea and cake.

Re: Offroad from home?

Rubbish, Northamptonshire..lots of muddy field edge bridleways, no woodland to speak of, and gamekeepers everywhere ready to throw you off their land.

Interested, I won't always be lucky finding branches to do the job for me.

Re: Paris-Nice Bivy

Thanks for the info. A little more digging seems to show that the hunting season in the Vaucluse ends on the 28/2 so I should hopefully be ok.
I'll still go with the colour advice (and watch out for banjos)

Paris-Nice Bivy

Just found that the Paris-Nice race goes past the door of where we're staying in the Vaucluse. I was thinking that I might ride up the Col de Murs and spend the night at the top and watch the race go by the next day. What I'm not sure about is whether my stealth camping is likely to get me shot by l...

Re: El an Back

My first go at an overnighter and I had a great couple of days. Didn't get very far and not very much off road due to mechanical issues (lack of maintenance  ) but found a nice spot for the night overlooking Llyn Clywedog with a wonderful view in the morning. Also good to put a few faces to na...

Yes, thanks for the Travelodge link. That's now booked and should make the journey a bit easier. Route planning is fun when you have no idea of the trails or conditions, isn't it?

Re: El-an Back ... Jan 12th/13th

First post for me too. I seem to have entered to do this in January. I've never bivvied (but have been meaning to start), hate the cold, and I am far too old and should know better. So it should be fun. Probably can cobble together most of the kit from touring stuff, but it looks like it will be a s...
