Re: Indian Pacific Wheel Race

My feeling is Mike Hall is not comfortable... in the videos he just doesn't look as settled as usual. Might be the pressure of having a faster man out front. The deeper they get into it the better i expect Mike to fare as Kristof has to rest more.... I wouldn't bet a penny of my hard earned on it th...

Re: Whingers.

A couple of years ago on a forum far far away..... a local thing which was a fantastic family of bikers on the whole. A bunch of people started to get a little tetchy with each other, one well attended ride we went to the pub afterwards. As we sat in the sun I pointed out that it was a wonder we got...

Re: Best padded short for ITTs

Thanks for the replies. I am happy with my saddle set up etc and my current crop of shorts. I just wondered if there was a go to short for the 4 days straight type races etc. This is all good news as it means there is no need to go splashing the cash! I shall find something else bike related to spen...

Best padded short for ITTs

I have a variety of cheap to mid priced padded shorts, mostly Endura, which have served me well enough for normal rides of up to 5 hours. I am looking at doing some longer distance stuff and was wondering if there are any stand out options that stay comfortable and bacteria free over the course of a...

Re: What's the go-to quilt then..

I went with Enlightened and while it is a great bit of kit the cost was very high once a hefty bill from DHL pushed another £74 onto the cost. They took a long time to make it, 7 weeks lead time but it was sent quickly. Sadly, they made it the wrong size,. The pad attachment is much less faff than t...

Good man, I look forward to reading the monthly updates.

A general nod to all that help others, whether a pretty full on role like Greg has taken on or just the simple act of helping out a fellow trail user in a bind.

Knee pads were a leftover from the morning ride in the Surrey Hills... couldn't be bothered to take my shoes off.

In fact, they are a godsend when kneeling down in camp.

Re: FS innovation: gimmick or evolutionary progress?

Commencal and the Liteville 301 spring to mind as good for frame bag space,

Good to see your picture Jam bo, I have a Bandit 29er frame that i'd decided would be my packing bike for rougher terrain.

Sadly a chest infection put pay to this ride.... annoying as there was a peach of a weather window which would have made it a lovely day/night.

It is very much on the cards for another time though.

I was hoping you'd see this :-bd Sounds about how I had it pegged reading peoples write ups and watching videos. One mans 'rough' track is another mans 'smooth' road and all that. I shall keep an eye on the forecast and go for it when wind conditions look most favourable. My thinking is i'll take th...

Trans Cambrian

Bore da I have it in mind to have a stab at the Trans Cambrian around the 4th/5th January. Is this a fool hard idea? The actual route itself is not a concern in regards to miles, height gain etc, (not a flippant statement, I will be showing it a great deal of respect). But it would be helpful to kno...

Ok so I saw these over on STW and have shouted for both sets.

I took them both as I thought someone on here might want a set, i'll certainly use one.

So i'll stand by my shout on STW but please shout if anyone wants the other set.

Cheers

Re: 2017 plans

My goals vary a little to most here. Though it is all just riding my bike. I am hitting 50 in 2017 so will be a young Grand Vet, so I figured I'd have a go at a complete race series of the Enduro kind. If I can avoid injury etc I am hoping to get on the podium but that would be the icing on the cak...
