Re: Todays ride

Our "beloved" 14 year old Jack Russell woke me up at 4.30am this morning... Couldn't get back to sleep after sorting him out, so decided to ride to work via the scenic route. Set off at 5.45am. Torquay - Teignmouth - Newton Abbott - Totnes - Paignton - Torquay. 30 miles all in. Considering...

Re: If you were planning on going to Iceland this year

Excellent news. I am glad you have had a rethink. Far too good a trip to abandon. Really pleased you are you adjusting your plans. After all, there is plenty of Iceland to explore. And of course, if you don't get to do your preferred route this time, it gives you the perfect excuse to go again when ...

Genesis Alt handlebar, as supplied with the Longitude and 2015 Caribou. Have fitted them to my Fortitude to try out a more swept handlebar. I have to say my initial whizz down the road and back was very pleasing... http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg146/dSIco/IMAG0612.jpg http://i247.photobucket.c...

Re: If you were planning on going to Iceland this year

As they say, that area has been affected for months... All significant routes (relative term) have been closed in the area highlighted for ages. I can't imagine it would clear any time soon. The major off road route in that area is the F26, which is a fantastic route to travel, but you could also us...

Officially last man back at just after 6pm(?)... Never have I seen such a wonderful plateful of cake and tasted such a gorgeous cup of tea... Another fab BB event. Thank you Stu and Dee, as ever. You have managed to propagate a brilliant, friendly, diverse group of people with a (slightly) unusual i...

Re: Todays ride

Nice ride out from Torquay to Sharkham Point past Brixham via as many off road routes through various woods on the way. Had a quick brew up on my new little solid fuel stove and than rode back home. Very nice.

Back to the humdrum of commuting tomorrow...

Re: Bivvy a month 2015

Thought we would start early this year. Bought my wife a Hunka bivvy bag for Chrimbo so we saw the New Year in sleeping out on Dartmoor, near Bell Tor. Bit misty/drizzly and windy, but quite warm...

Next stop, Ford Fiesta...

Re: Cycling highlight of the year

Riding in the Austrian Alps in the Summer. Rode in the Hinter Tux valley and around Ischgl. Very nice. Bike hire is plentiful and I tried my first "uplift" via cable car and also rode a full suspension bike for the first time. They are not called mountains for nothing! Some serious climbin...

Re: Ford Fiesta entries now open.

Well I'm out. Seems like what happened to my left knee earlier in the year has now happened in my right knee. It's not any where near as bad, I can walk without limping, but I'm going to give it 6 weeks at least off the bike so it can heal before it gets as bad as my left knee was. I'm annoyed as I...

Re: How do you chose your carry system?

Just strap a dry bag to your bars to begin with. I used that system for a year, and then only bought a bar harness second hand from someone on here. It's easy to get caught up in buying lots of new gear when you take up a new hobby/sport, but you really don't have to. The bar harness I got is an ear...

120 miles in 13.5 hrs on-road around Dartmoor practicing for BB200 1014. (Still woefully unprepared for the full horror though)!

Re: Narrow bars = headache?

I have swapped between my 44cm wide drop bars on the Croix de Fer and the 690mm wide flat bars on the Fortitude in the last few weeks. I have to say that at first the drops felt really narrow and weird, but now the flat bars feel too wide. The only discomfort I have had is lower back grumbles when r...
