Thanks hive mind. I feel a lot better about riding the Signal. Maybe a lauf, thundbuster and some Jones bars will do the job...

Thanks all, those are a couple of things I hadn't thought of. It's unlikely to be in the next couple of years, but something to aim for.

Re: TDR bike suitability
Thanks all that’s all great info. I think once it’s all safe to do so, just riding longer and back to back on my Signal will give me a good feeling for it.
I’ll put my time and money into coping strategies, are the R@pha ones the best or should I just look in Aldi?

Re: TDR bike suitability
Thanks all, I looked at the Smokestone but it’s probably a little out of my price range and I think it would be a little compromised on the road. Thanks for the advice on the Signal, sounds like it’s the best option. I would have gone for a Broken Road in the first place but I really enjoy the lairy...

TDR bike suitability
Hi all, looking for some advice from those who’ve ridden or raced the Tour Divide. I’ve got a Sonder Signal Ti and I’m looking to replace my Rose Cross Bike for gravel and road riding and I’ve test ridden Sonder Camino Ti and I’m really sold on it for my needs. However I have an aspiration to enter ...

Re: Packable folding saw recommendations please
I have an Opinel No.12 Folding Saw which I bought mainly because it was cheap when buying in combo with a No.8 knife. I'm not sure it'll be tough enough for everyone's needs, but I've used it for clearing smallish limbs and branches off the trail and it did a good enough job. Small enough to stash i...

Sorry, late to the party, hope the donation isn’t too late. If it is, just go crazy and get as much toilet roll as you can fit on your Sonder.
Great work Shaf, you’re a hero.

Re: I did not sleep well that night.
First time experiencing bothy life, a friend and I did part of the Dirty Reiver route on a dry February Saturday to then stay at Wainhope over night and then gentle ride round the lake, up to the observatory on the Sunday before we got back to the car. After a long afternoon of fighting into a headw...

Re: The story behind your BB name (and whats your usual form of address)
I read a cycling book some time ago in which the writer met a rider out on the road and the guy called himself Steve The Bike Guy (it may not have been Steve) and he said if you go to any of these places locally and say Steve The Bike Guy sent you, they'll give you a discount and everyone knows me. ...

Glencoe/Kinlochleven to Fort William
Evening all, I'm staying in Glencoe at the weekend with a couple of friends who are pretty fit but aren't super experienced riders but would like to get a ride in. They're fine on gravel and singletrack but I'd like to avoid anything with too much techy stuff if possible. What's the Old Military Roa...

Last day of the millets sale Just got an exped Matt for less than £60 https://www.millets.co.uk/equipment/165378-exped-synmat-lite-5-m.html Thanks for that Simon, somehow mine ended up at £44.10 before shipping. Cheers Stu, I'd thought as much, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.Given the cost of levers, I suspect it would prove both easier and cheaper to fit some cable operated calipers / levers.
Cheap cable disc and hood set suggestion anyone?

Hi all, I've got an old 26" wheeled Boardman sat in the boiler room at work that I've converted to singlespeed. I use it for the odd lunchtime ride when I can't be bothered throwing my Rose in the back of the car. Just before Christmas I was being even less careful with it than usual and caught...

Re: Rigid Forks
I had a Pinnacle Ramin 3+ that was my only MTB for about a year and it was great. Really simple, no faffing with lockouts or pressures, perfect for winter. It was really only when I rode bigger and rockier trails (and trying to follow the bigger boys) that I felt the need for some suspension. Maybe ...

What about if you achieve your goal everyone else who joins in has to pay that donation between them all, regardless if they themselves have completed their challenge or not. If it’s all done equally then the worst case scenario is you pay (ever so slightly less than) double your pledge, and that’s ...
