Re: The post man's been ...

Good plan but I’d sneak up on it a little, soak it in some release agent, give it a little tough love with a few short sharp taps with a hammer (obviously you might want to protect the surfaces) and for good measure a little heat. Then go ape. :-bd

Re: The post man's been ...

And he delivered a shiny new Hope caliper to replace the one I busted last weekend. AND it’s the RX4 PLUS with bigger pistons and much larger pads, it now officially supports 180mm disks. If it’s better than the original then us on dropbars are going to be very happy. Big thanks to Mr Tim Pie for t...

Bit of a bonus to honest Stu, see I get to upgrade the caliper to the RX4+ for more power AND my gears are now working better than before after some serious hanger alignment tool work, quite liked the mat though :-bd

Disaster area!

On my last little trip I managed to break a Hope RX4 caliper, shortly afterwards I bounced my shiny AXS derailleur off a tree severely bending the alternator dropouts. When I went to have a well earned rest my mat delaminates resulting in a night on the boards  So make me feel better, what are ...

I used one for ages with a large Alpkit double ended drybag, used some coraplast (the stuff that house for sale 'for sale signs' are made of ) as a stiffener, worked a treat.

Another Smoove user, the last bottle was £14.99 on Amazon. Admittedly not cheap but it works out ok as it lasts ages longer and it’s worth the entry cost just not to have a filthy black chain after one ride.

Re: Honey, I smoked the discs!

Good brake modulation goes a long way but ultimately I decided that road bike brakes just don’t cut it off-road. I swapped out my sram red calipers for Hope RX4’s and have been happy with them for the last two years, I’ve saved the cost in disks and pads as the hopes seem to last a lot longer. Shima...

Re: Bottle cage offsetting mount options

Here’s a solution which might work for you, inspired by the Curve cycles GMX+ which has two mounts high in the downtube I’ve used a pair of Rixen Kaul bottle mounts. They fix using a steel band, by splitting the band between the two you can mount them either side of the tube. I don’t normally need t...
