Re: A New Years message ...

Happy new year all.

Don’t post much on here but regular pop in and catch up the adventures. Find bear bones the only place where I can feel included and where sleeping in random ditches is actively encouraged. Hope one day get to meet some folk from here.

Definitely in this year after gaining 6 kg over December. Struggled last year with work and life from both an mental and health point so need to make some big changes this year.

Re: 2023 - Plans, rides and things to look forward to

Not committing to anything at the moment. Had lots planned for last year but work and life got in the way of most.

Only thing I want from 2023 is to rekindle my love for cycling whether it’s a few days out on the bike or just a local spin.

Re: Diesel Heater For A Van Question.

Depends on what kind you want. One of the Chinese ones from eBay can be picked up and installed relatively cheaply. If you don’t want to start drilling into tanks then a separate tank is also a good idea. Have used various heaters in vans over the years and have to say the Chinese ones do the job ju...

As little as possible.Hopefully. Seeing both parents this weekend and then few days work and we are both off till next year. Neither of us are bothered about Christmas so presents have to be made from unwanted stuff and cost nothing. Dinner will be venison that’s currently hanging in the larder and ...

Makes you think perhaps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etcx8e6xJqs Thanks for posting that. As someone who seems to find any excuse to not ride my bike it’s even harder to justify watching that. Sometimes you just need a kick up the butt to go ride your bike and enjoy which this most definitely h...

Re: what is a bikepacking bike?

For me the first question has to be do they want a bike packing bike to actually use or is it just because they see their social media full of hipsters on bikepacking bikes have ‘rad’ times that they want the pub credit of being a bikepacker. For me my bike packing bikes range from a surly ogre 29er...

Completely get it. Go through the same thing. Scary when I think my last time on the bike was February. Life has got slightly in the way but mostly have just been lacking motivation to do anything. Have been out with the bivy bag for a few nights but mostly just walked from the house to somewhere cl...

There’s a few areas I haven’t been in it so might give it a wee spin round.

Got to agree will need to add the few extra just for a nice round number.

Clearing some space out and have loads of cranked magazines lying about which are in great condition. Got numbers 1 - 23 but can’t seem to find 22 so consider it lost or missing. Know the first few are sold out and can’t be bought online. Thinking of around £100 Ono for the lot as not splitting them...

Just over the loch from me. For MTB stuff there’s lots above Dunoon if you want to drive down. The stuff on Trailforks at glenbranter I haven’t ridden in ages but was pretty neglected last time I was down a few years ago. Lots of nice gravel rides and the road down the side of loch fyne to otter fer...

Was out last year at may time riding it and hopefully heading back later this year maybe August or September. Never had any issues with midges.

Only advice I can offer is make sure you pitch your tent with wind direction on your mind.

That’s some impressive patching.

Think most I have ever had was around 10 then it normally get a cut up and used as a new chainstay protector.

Finding it harder to get my 26inch tubes and tyres which is another reason to patch them.
