Re: Today's Run

OMM, B course with my mate who'd just about recovered from Covid 2 weeks prior. 18th male team, happy with that as we're technically vets, but at the OMM you have to be over 45. So his 55 and my 43 don't quite work out. Still a great day out. Next year.... it's in Scotland. Already entered with my w...

One of my favourite places in the world to point a camera at things: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53300488463_227d7f6471_c.jpg DSC07358-Edit.jpg by Greg.May , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53300488008_fdbe0bdd6f_c.jpg DSC07355-Edit.jpg by Greg.May , on Flickr Only decent light...

Re: Rockshox SiD Ultimate curious!

I've had my SIDs since they came out. I've not had issues. But I am aware of people who've had issues with the bushings being less in contact, and getting some internal knocking. I don't ride them easy, and they've been fine. But I've never trashed a pair of forks in 20 odd years. Wheels now...that'...

Re: Today's Run

Back racing, orienteering anyway. Nice local race, didn't really pay attention and ended up further down the field than normal. Still a great day out. Then ran round with my daughter on her course, where she got second. Happy with that.

I did the shorter version a few weeks back CCC. "Only" 101km.

Yesterday and todays run - 100km with 6,200m vertical in 22 hours and a bit. The CCC. Will write some actual words about it later. I should probably sleep.

Re: Today's Run

Easier run, 10km with about 350m vertical along easier tracks. A nice hour after the chaos that was going into Chamonix to get bib and kit check. Lucky I know my way around the back streets as the main roads were packed!

Re: Today's Run

Lung test today - ran up to 1,800m on what looked like a nice hiking trail....it was not used much which showed itself when I had to cross an area of rockfall, then the snout of a glacier, and a few moraines and rivers. Ended up at a lovely howf, then had a cracking run back down to town on a trail ...

Re: Today's Run

Last run UK side before CCC for me. Usual 10km Sunday run up to a local trig point and back to the valley floor. In the usual rain that has been this summer in the Pennines. Took it easy, but enjoyed the downhill. Quite looking forward to getting to France now, though the weather is.... rain :) A fe...

Use SI frequently for orienteering events. Usually flawless.

Brilliant as ever, Greg, but this one is stunning
Thanks John. The lines worked and it made a really good way to showcase the two lead runners!

Recommend vs. mandatory.

That's what I'd like to know.

That list has several of items I would never bring.

The mandatory kit aspect strikes me as .... interesting. Used to it from fell racing etc, but not for self supported events.

Re: Advice on Filtering water

Also depends where in the world you are. Even up high, in post industrial areas like Calderdale I won't drink from any water source. Scotland, pretty much all fair game once I'm in the Highlands and following Stu's list.
