Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr
I really want to get back there next year, ones of those routes and experiences that has kept me going over the last crazy year, knowing that we have rides like TNR to look forward to.

Re: UK (off road / gravel) Rides with Tons of Climbing?
Have you looked at the 120 mile Dirty Reiver route, nice place to ride and can be done with bivvy/ the bothy in middle?
If you wanted a big day out, but on the road, i can send you the Dragon Devil ride, 180 miles and 4800m in a day and in Wales, so really scenic riding?

Re: What happened to 24 hour racing?
I used to enjoy the social aspect, but a lot of the courses i found dull and unless you're really competitive, i got tired of constantly moving to the right.. I like to push myself and for a ride to be tough, but i would rather spend a week away travelling a scenic route from A to B seeing a differe...

Re: Bikes on Scottish trains
Thanks all. It's always the little things that give you grief, i hate trains at the best of times, they could be a good solution to less traffic on roads, but only once they improve them greatly..

Bikes on Scottish trains
We are hoping to ride the Badger Divide from 15/05 to 20/05 - we have train tickets booked from Glasgow to Inverness to ride back down, but whilst tickets are booked, it said you could only book bike places a month in advance, but when we called today seeking clarity, we have been told the two bike ...

Re: Oval rings. Absolute Black or Absolute B*ll*cks?
As above, i have only really noticed a difference on both singlespeed gravel and road bikes, i have never had an issue tensioning chain as long as it is set be tightest tension when the widest part of the chain ring is orientated at 12-6 o'clock

Re: Kyphoplasty..
I had similar a good 20 years ago, i broke my neck playing rugby, fractured C6/C7 from memory in a collapsed scrum, reading the kyphoplasty definition that seems to be placing a cement in the area to preserve the disc spacing around the spinal column and relieve pressure, whereas i had a ceramic spa...

Anyone ridden Badger Divide, Glasgow parking?
Now that things seem to starting up and finally we can start to travel in future, i've been invited to join others on a Badger Divide ride, going to be a shock to system after a year being stuck in Norfolk! Just wondered if anyone had any tips, things we must see, what midges will be like etc? Best ...

Re: EBB's in PF30
I've been looking for the same thanks. Ride Works one looks ace, never had a problem with the EBB in my Singular bikes, but bought the Problem Solves one to convert an old Roubaix road frame for commuting to SS, and it did nothing but cause problems instead of solve them! Literally had to constantly...

Re: New Alpkit Tents
I have just ordered on the 1p versions, was after something for a Scotland trip to fend away the midgies over my usual bivi bag and tarp approach and was about to order a Lunar Solo when this came through, thought i'd give it a go and see if i get on with it, not very light, but it is a true double ...

Wildcat harness + clothing / bits clear out
Hi all, bit of a clearout, would like to post pics, but my photo hosting states that i have used all my available space and i'm too tight to pay a monthly charge! - Wildcat front harness, i bought this off here for £20.00 and have only used once, previous owner (who i forget sorry) modded it to have...

Re: anyone suffer from a very bad back ? advice needed.
I broke my neck and back playing rugby years ago, i suffered then through out my late 20's and 30's with back pain, would be good for a few months, then something would trigger it and i would be flat on my back for a week or longer, not helped by then working sat at a desk all day. The only thing th...

Been reading a great true book about the first englishman to find himself in Japan back in 1611 after washing up there after a shipwreck called Samurai William, he ended up "going native" and having a family and becoming a link between European traders and Japan: https://www.amazon.co.uk/S...

Re: The worst journey in the world
When we can, definitely worth visiting the Scott Polar Museum in Cambridge:
https://www.spri.cam.ac.uk/museum/
Free to enter and it includes a lot of their letters home and other artefacts, some of them are heart-breaking knowing they are not coming home.

Weirdly, and i know that it is not going to go down well with a group of mountain bikers, but having agreed to move to North Norfolk as it is where my wife comes from and she always wanted to move home, and as it is a nice place over where we used to live to raise my daughter, i finally feel settled...
