For that much I'd just put a sticker there and accept that it would look more tatty than etched bling. Tatty is more my vibe anyway.
A sticker designed around a bolt hole would be of interest, but may not do the design justice and would still look tatty after any rain or time.

Re: Stupid ideas you can't shake.
I took my bike to the top of the GB 3 peaks for a similar reason. I became obsessed with hatred of the van based challenge and wanted to show them how to do it properly. Clearly my ride made a huge difference.....not. Oh cool! I was thinking I was the only one. Debating a rattling off road route be...

Re: Stupid ideas you can't shake.
I love stupid ideas.
A recent non bike one that I failed at shaking for two weeks before caving in was to shave half of my hair. Just the right side. Toe to tip. Catestrophically unaesthetic but gives me such a giggle whenever I catch my asymmetric shadow.

Re: Warm nights
In those conditions a warm jacket is not multi use as it would be too warm to wear as a jacket. Sleeping bags/quilts are much better at keeping you comfortable while sleeping. I've tried it when a fair bit colder than 11 degrees and got uncomfortably cold bum area and a disturbed sleep, but a 2 hr 3...

My dream box is bursting with ideas, planned to depths never before reached, all locked firmly within this island we live on. First trip will be Shropshire way on retro mountain bikes with a friend. The ones that make me smile the most are bivi at the top of a mountain and write a poem so that I do ...

Risk of what? Importing your city diseases onto rural communities due to unnecessary contact, such as I believed happened to some extent in the Lake District that weekend before lockdown. When extending trips, buy food locally first, so you’re not going into shops in remote areas. I agree that the ...

For all we know they could be self sufficient for food for the length of their trip so that they do not have to risk small local shops.

Indeed bikepacking bags do not exclusively carry dossing kit. I always use mine for essential shopping trips. On my assorted feed of news articles I saw a headline "Covidiot campers fined for boozy getaway as tents found at UK beauty spot". Covidiot campers fined for boozy getaway as tents...

Some projects and ideas. You probably already have these given you are assembling other bits, but doing something, anything, will help you understand possibilities and limitations considerably.

I'm afraid they[ladies jerseys] will still carry a slight premium. I'm happy to add that premium* to my order in some attempt to take barriers away from the minority group purely for being a minory. *Depends on how premium and if the logistics your end allow for a first come first serve subsidied w...

A second hand macpac eVent bivi bag for £68 weighing in at 560g in an exciting orange. I have pushed the expected use limits of my Terra Nova survival bivi, and it is close to bits. Entire footbox delaminated, plus plenty along, all taped seams have came apart. Still works as a lightweight draft pro...

Depends how you interpret the if everyone statement. If everyone did that fringe thing that they like and can borderline justify with the wind blowing in the correct direction then, yes that would be too much. If it is everyone who wants to bivi once or twice a month, does that then it would be fine...

After reevaluating what it was that first attracted me to sleeping out, I went with a back to basics set up. I hoped to relight my connection with nature and clear my head of complications. Part of this nature connection felt appropriate to cook by fire. I cheated and made my chilli lentil burger mi...

I remember my first night out

Maybe it will prove a useful resource for bikepacking curious people on...

There must be some mathematical relationship that keeps the volume the same for a given weight regardless of individual partical size as long as the particals are all the same size. and approximate shape. Re: Using my waterproof jacket as back up tarp
I would look at having a jacket made of the same material as tarps. Yeah I think this is what I would do, if I find it in any way useful and beneficial in the real world. I would probably make my own jacket as it my requirements are different enough to anything on offer, and I enjoy making things. ...

Yep keeping the bag hole clear is the name of the game. Tried a flying v and indeed it did give relatively comprehensive protection. It was a right wiggle to get in and out of the tarp though. I had to get into my bivi bag then worm my way under, compared with the other set up which I could get in a...

Re: Using my waterproof jacket as back up tarp
So here is the proof of concept using pebbles as tie outs. I had not considered the possibility of the sleeves being curtains, but think I would leave them draping as that tension would be fighting against the stitching and 2 more pegs makes a significant contribution to this set up. https://live.st...
