Re: Chilterns Spring Thing 25 March

Peep's, really looking forward to my 1st BBB trip (practice ride for WRT), play nice though, do dodgy 'initiation' ceremonies allowed :o I'm not quite sorted yet for the whole bivvy thingy yet, so was hoping to take my little tent on this trip. The Albion looks an vaguely exciting boozer, but prefer...

Tent pole mushroom

Not completely MYOG because I got it printed for me, but I needed a tent pole top piece for my cheapo Chinese tent and decided it would be a good excuse to learn a bit about 3d printing; here's Mk1 of what I ended up with .... https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2838/33008465281_5a2edc4df2_z.jpg mushroom2...

Pre-WRT bunkhouse

Greetz.

Can the Internet of Things recommend a pre-WRT bunkhouse for me please, ideally with bar/restaurant nearby? The Star Inn at Dylife looks more B&B than bunkhouse, so wondering if Machynlleth had somewhere suitable?

Super nice Borah Gear Bivvy bag, only 185g inc stuff bag. Sleeping mat fits inside the bag which is nice. $98 + £12 to HMRC :-bd

Re: Is the Spring Thing a thing?

Having just signed up for the WRT (gulp!), I'd better get some practice trips in! Had hoped to do the pre-Christmas ride, so would be chuffed to join in on this. Are little 1 man tents allowable or is it 'Strictly Come Bivi' ?

Re: Just in case you didn't know ...

I'll get this in early then - anyone from the Wendover/Herts/NE M25 direction area driving up? Fuel-share / general bribery for a lift? PM if so, I can ride to the M25 or M1 junctions in this area pretty easily. I'm going up with some mates from Berkhamsted, not sure how many yet, so not sure if we...

Re: Light, but not on bars?

I've had similar problem on MTB, need to keep the bag high on the bars in order to allow suspension fork travel. I used some cheap cut-down tri-bars and a bodge (similar to the skewer mount) at the end of one of the tri-bars to mount the light (sorry, no pictures here though).

Cheers for the tips, I think carrying a mix of peg types sounds like a good plan.

Noob Tent Peg Question

Might be a silly question, but how do you bash your tent pegs in, especially in hard/stony ground, in the Chilterns, there's very little stone (apart from bits of flint) and fallen wood is often to soft? (I've got some alloy V shaped pegs). Ta.

Re: GPX routes - how to use help needed.

On a similar theme, I, unlike many it seems, swear by my Garmin Edge Touring. I have Spanish mapping on a micro SD card and download routes from Wikiloc. I've been bought a Samsung tablet with Micro SD slot, is it possible to load routes from a web based source like wililoc and copy them to the SD ...

Re: Welsh Coast 2 Coast

Just did my route last weekend ( https://ridewithgps.com/trips/8872182 ), fantastic route. Quite tough days, but all cleared on CX bike minus a couple of pushes. Shortened the route on a couple of days (a bit knackered), only really tough terrain was south of Mach (down to Nant - y - Moch). Had to d...

Re: Decent usb chargable compact camera.

I got a Fuji XP80, waterproof, robust, USB charging, adequate picture quality, Wi-Fi's pictures to you phone (with app on phone), lots of funky photo effects, sits in my little stem/top tube bag for easy access, ton-up on ebay.

Re: Welsh Coast 2 Coast

I've got a WC2C 4/5d ride that I'm planning to do in May, linking up some places I've previously ridden in Wales and its from Bangor to Cardiff so easy for trains. I've not ridden it yet so no guarantee's, but I'm hoping it works for Gravel bikes with Nano40's. I'll B+B this one but I'm specifically...
