Re: Crank Brothers Clipless pedals
I've used Eggbeaters for many years now, without problems... you should grease them occasionally. They are light and let the mud drop through, and have 4 entry points.

Re: Camera's - Anyone know anything?
I have a Kodak EasyShare C763, 7.1 megapixels. It's small and light. It fits neatly into its case (LowePro). I got it in 2007 from Currys. It cost £99 but with case and extra memory it came to £144. I just put the case around my neck whilst riding and it is very easy to take a picture... All the pix...

Re: Dales200
Greenmug, here's a brief overview of some possible ways from Grinton near Reeth (sent a couple of gpx's to Chew) First one from Grinton or Reeth - a challenge of a climb up to Fremington Edge, good tracks generally, a circular loop over Hurst Moor ending up in Langthwaite. You can also go west from ...

Re: Dales200
Here's a first shot - from Grinton, up Fremington Edge, over to Hurst Moor, loop round to Langthwaite. From Langthwaite over to Great Pinseat (great tracks, mine workings). As you go North up to and from Little Punchard Head it becomes a bit more difficult, then it's technical ST over to William Gil...

Re: Dales200
I've done a lot of riding in the Dales, my maps are plastered with rides I've done, so I'll try and concoct a route which avoids roads as much as poss, includes some interesting riding... slight problem is that I've lost Memory Map on my PC which I used for all my researching and mapping (I lost it ...

Re: Dales200
It sounds good - done a lot of riding in the Dales past few years... definitely off-road as much as possible - may be able to ride end Nov or do part of it (12 hours darkness in a small tent this time of year, don't have lights ... yet) The ride from Reeth - Settle etc. - would appreciate the gpx Ch...

Re: Could you give my route the once over please?
Are there any good places to leave a car for a few days in Rhayader ? Or in Elan ?
Interested in exploring this area a bit more. Done a 20 miles route there a few years back, just for the day.

Cairngorms 25th September 2013
Had a great 3 day ride of the outer loop clockwise, starting from Aviemore... set off the Wednesday morning at 7am in light drizzle. About 7 miles of quiet road before turning off into Abernethy Forest. The gap behind the tree is Eag Mhor http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7432/10169009045_a93ecf3e7c_c.j...

Re: FlickR - uploading pictures
Hi Scotroutes, Blogger sounded easier so I'm in the midst of trying it... but it uses Google (I already have a few photos on Google) and it isn't half cumbersome and non-intuitive... (that's what I find anyway...) And in Flickr... (it may use Google...) I have just spent 10 minutes trying to add a p...

Advice needed please - I want to post a write up of my recent Cairngorms trip, with a lot of photos. Stuart tells me that the width should be restricted to about 640 pixels. I have re-sized all the photos, and put them on Flickr. To get them in I clicked the Img tab, and posted the link within ........

Re: Sawyer Mini Filter - looks good!
My travel tap leaked when squeezing so I sent an email to Giles Butler of Drinksafe Systems. It is very important that the seal within the cap is seated properly, so all I did was to take it out, and re-insert it making sure it fits snugly. Bingo ! It doesn't leak anymore, so give that a go.

Inner tubes... near the valve
Got back from a very wet, windy and cold ride on Monday afternoon - so windy I retreated from the climb up Winter Hill, and my hands (thumbs) were too cold to change gear (the cable does need cleaning and lubing). I didn't realise my tools and spare tubes were not with me, but in another bag I use w...

Re: Dynamos and powering stuff
I phoned a shop yesterday to ask basic questions about dynamo hubs, the guy had been wheelbuilding for the last 8 or so years, and fitting dynamo hubs more recently... he said he fits about 10 a week (if I heard correctly, it seems alot). He said that the SP hubs were not good at all, they had some ...

Re: Dynamos and powering stuff
Have started researching this... advice welcome please... conclusions reached so far are to go for an SP PD8 hub with an Exposure Light (+ rear light), and a Plug II to power GPS etc. I appreciate that there is a wire from the hub to the light, but what about the Plug ? Is that also connected to the...

I did the inner loop in the opposite direction to you a couple of weeks ago, and remember well the boulder fields of the Lairig an Laoigh ! Probably 2 miles of bad ground. I tried pushing the bike but resorted to carrying it... was I glad when I came to the spot where I could look down into Glen Der...
