Temporary bodge that lasted longer than anticipated

Did a ride out to Essex on the road bike yesterday and passed the place where one of my two carbon bottle cages broke. I made a quick repair with a loop of duct tape. That was three years ago. I really must get a new bottle cage!

Re: Your bike collection

1) Cannondale 1fg. The perfect ss. Light scandium frame, headshock, EBB. Rides and climbs brilliantly. 2) Kona A. Built this up with a Fox talas 80-125 fork. Not as light as the 1fg, but riding singletrack on a full suss singlespeed always brings a smile to my face. 3) Commencal Meta. Don't ride thi...

[quote=PaulB2 post_id=185844 time=1561131195 user_id=4388 I'm only allowed 3 bikes by matrimonial decree so still pondering how to squeeze my more ideal bikepacking bike into the collection. Re: Tour Divide 2019

Alexandera Houchin is a phenominal rider......Also first singlespeeder overall running 36/19 gearing. Wow, that's a higher gear than I run on my unloaded bike, on the Isle of Wight  I have done a hilly off-road century on it but I wouldn't be able to do it day after day for 2700 miles even w...

Re: Tour Divide 2019

Lael appears to be giving the boys a good run for their money Wouldn't suprise me if she ends up doing more than that after a week to 10 days. When the real long-distance conditioning kicks in, she may have as good as if not better form than anyone there. Lael is riding to win and I hope she does i...

Re: TD 2019 rigs

As usual the Cutthroat is the most popular bike, this year accounting for more than 25%.

There appears to be more running Lauf forks this year.

Re: Switzerland Plugs

Going on a cycling tour next week, and will be riding through Italy and Switzerland. Just heard that Switzerland use a different plug standard to the rest of Europe. Will a standard EU plug work, or we I have to find an adapter from somewhere? Standard European adaptors work fine. Some sockets are ...

..Which suprises me actually, I thought adjustable dropouts would be more popular / EBBs still had a mixed rep. Maybe the bad ones are behind us.
I never had any problems with mine, has always done the job perfectly.

I have an EBB on the Cannondale 1fg, and horizontal dropouts on the Kona A. Much prefer the EBB.

Re: Green commute initiative

The £1K limit is nothing to do with the C2W and similar schemes but is a restriction under the Financial Services Act (or somesuch) - basically the £1K is a loan and to lend greater amounts you must be registered with the FSA (Financial Services Authority) as a lender and that's a lot of hassle. So...

Has anyone used this to buy a bike through cycle to work scheme?

Just went into my lbs and the young guy said someone came in with a £10k voucher. I assumed the limit was £1k, but apparently not.

I have the Madison ones with the zip off legs o you get shorts as well. Wore them for the BB300 and they were as good as you could reasonably expect them to be! I have the same ones and totally agree. I don't think any waterproof trousers are ever comfortable, but these are much better than I expec...
