Re: Gatherings?
Main attractions for me with WRT are: the 'vagueness' of everything between when we leave and return, bumping into each other, the social bit in Y Star and your gaff at the start, popping in to local shops, caffs, pubs etc, lots of rain. I don't (naively?) see big problems away from your place - we...

Prepping for WRT. Stripped BBs on two bikes - both mine but one’s for my minder. He’s never been bikepacking before. We’ll have to have a shakedown ride before then, I think....

If you are ever passing Langcliffe, just up the road from Settle, have a look at the Hoffman kiln there - https://www.yorkshire-dales.com/hoffman-kiln.html . We have one of these in a disused quarry near Minera, north-east of Wrexham and due east of Llandegla trail centre. The last time I was there...

I was just wondering, how a comment about a short YouTube Video about bike packing (watched it, didn’t find anything of particular interest), became a three page not-quite-argument about racial discrimination.

^ This is what I do, but I’ve got a thick/thin chainring so have to do it on the cassette. A bit fiddly on the back, but works every time.

Acepac seat harness from Bb Towers. Thanks. Bought it for my minder. Now I’m sort of jealous - it looks like a good bit of kit.

WRT August?
It’s quite a few weeks until August B/H and the proposed deferred WRT, and given the way things are being eased in Wales, it seems quite likely that it can take place. At least from a “staying out overnight“ angle. I suppose from a “no gatherings greater than x” it’ll be harder to predict. But anywa...

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but im now actively looking for a rack and have come across Witter, who appear to be a good value option. Anyone here familiar with them? They seem to be experts in all things tow bar-y. When I first started carting bikes around (one for me and one each for the gra...

The actual riding with regard to how far, how long, etc doesn't really ever factor. My brain tends to be filled with ... I wonder how long it took to build that wall up there? Why do people tie gates up with bailing twine? I wonder how many people worked in this mine? Ooh that's a lovely old barn t...

Re: Hammock set-ups
Hammocking is always my preferred option for bivvying -comfy, dry, roomy. Did I say comfy? So for hammocking I take a hammock (obs), tarp, quilt, underquilt For ground-sleeping I take tarp, quilt, neoair, and tyvek ground sheet. The big dilemma for me is always, “Will I find some trees?” Easy if I’v...

Think it a balance required between the two and personal responsibility is important. I am not sure its actually either or. ^This! But the news media seem to be more “they” than “you” I’m sure the scenes on hot-spot beaches are the exception rather the rule (media hype), but I wonder how many of th...

Its the end of lockdown til lthe inevitable second spike Lockdown or no lockdown, there’s a lot to be said for taking responsibility for your own safety. Chuffin' hell  Sincerely hope you recover from both. If you were bad enough to be on a ventilator at any time make sure you get a scan of your lungs done, Covid-19 can really mess with them. So true. Look how many ways people of the same colour find to discriminate against each other. Christians have found ways to split hairs ever finer, then hate each other for it

Not so cheery, I'm starting my second week in hospital. My temperature keeps spiking and they don't know why. On my third and fourth antibiotics now.
