Re: Hope BB bearings
Press fit? I fucking detest PF. It’s not just the sub standard creaky performance, but the idea of smashing my frame with a hammer every year is just madness. I’ve had some crap Hope wheel bearings in the past, but bought one of their screw-together BB systems for the Spearfish, which has been prett...

Re: Atlas Mountain Race.
Just noticed this video on the GCN channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTJmfrzSvc4 - first six and a half minutes or so. Uhm, 'will roadies spoil grave?' ... I doubt it but what I love is the irony that everyone seems to be trying to turn 'gravel' into mountainbiking. Bigger tyres, wider bars...

Re: Granguanche Canaries
If i cant make the april date then im well up for this in Nov when im off 25th to 6th dec....sounds like a great winter time ride I could well be up for something towards the tail-end of the year fella. Don’t think the April 2020 dates will work for me either, so could also be up for it next winter.

Re: Granguanche Canaries
This look really interesting. Pity it's in April, not a few weeks earlier; April looks good for riding, but hopefully the UK might be better by then as well. https://www.climatestotravel.com/climate/canary-islands Very tempted to do the test ride, if I can get the time off work. And the coronavirus ...

Re: Prong > Lauf
At £700 they are comparable in cost to a medium level Rockshox SID. There is also no onward servicing costs? A basic service will cost £100 including postage if you send it off to TF Tuned or similar. A SID RL is about £500 on special offer at the moment so after 5 years that will be £1000 investme...

Re: Prong > Lauf
I think you’ll get two different perspectives on Lauf. 1. Suspicion or derision, mostly based on the aesthetic, from the spectators. 2. Complete satisfaction from those who have used them. I’m in the second group, and would also never go back to rigid on anything <2.8” rubber. They have their issues...

WTD: 2x10 drop bar shifters
Ideally SRAM S700 2 x 10 drop bar shifters, hydraulic disc compatible (don’t need the callipers), for use with SRAM XX MTB derailleurs.
Other compatible solutions considered, but not bar-end shifters.

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?
Thanks all for the advice. I think I’ll try to take the bike as hold luggage and test the system. If I have to stump up more at the airport then that will just be taken as a lesson in being cheap! Might book a B&B in Pisa or Massa for the night before my flight home and see if they will store th...

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?
Just booked return flights to Pisa, and some more Qs for those in the know: - What’s the best way to get around with a bike - public transport, to the start (Massa) from the airport, and back to the start from the finish? - Where can I store my bike bag near the start? I’m not dicking around with ca...

I like it!
Don’t expect anybody will check, just wonder if it could invalidate my travel / medical insurance, but can’t think why it would.
Have you used this form yourself?

Both of these look fantastic options; I’m guessing TT is more gravel bike, VT more MTB?

Drop Bar MTB Conversion
I have an old 26" Cannondale Scalpel that doesn't get used much, and thinking about converting it to a drop bar Frankenbike. What could be more on trend than something with snoopy-bars and suspension, as the gravelwankers continue to re-invent MTBs from the olden days, with drop bars...? I don'...

Kinda - buy an 8g stove before Nov 20th and I'll throw in a tapered windshield and an additional 50ml fuel bottle - just add the obligatory Ti mug and prepare to enjoy Nescafe 3 in 1 like never before. https://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/shop/?product=ultra-ultralight-8g-meths-stove-2 https://1.bp.b...

Re: PHD, Ghost Whisperer, Down Jackets, OT Huawei Tablet
Thanks Rich. I just thought the MH 'small' was more like a European 'medium', and was wondering if the PHD was similar.
Do you have any photos of it on?
I'm going to have to wait until next month anyway before I can buy any more 'luxuries'!
Cheers,
Craig

Re: PHD, Ghost Whisperer, Down Jackets, OT Huawei Tablet
Hi Rich,
Interested in the PHD Jacket - how does the sizing compare with the Ghost Whisperer? I ordered one of these last year, but found the small a bit too baggy for me.
Cheers,
Craig
