Re: who rides Ti ?
struggling to understand why there is such a huge difference between the price of a Sonder Camino Ti with GRX spec for £2150 and Planet X Tempest Ti SRAM Force 1 for £1,999 compared to a Genesis Croix De Fer Ti GRX at £4,399.99, Product blurbs say Tempest is " triple butted 3AL/2.5V frameset&qu...

Re: Ramin 3+ to Fronter (V1) parts swap
as Frontier's are only £799 for a complete bike or £299 for F&F , pretty sure your mate could recoup around £350/£400 sellling the Ramin at the moment and thus get a new and arguably better specced bike for not much more than buying the F&F

PlanetX are working on bringing out a 29er drop barred rigid mountain bike according to a post they made on their facebook, no other details yet but could be of some interest to people on here

Re: Ever built a no expense spared bike?
my mate did it as a teenager with a BMX (a Haro freestyler frame and forks plus blingiest parts) on his Dad’s credit card - his Dad went bloody mental when he found out, he was grounded for the entire summer and was paying his Dad back for several years 😂 Personally I’ve had builds go hundreds over ...

I don’t think you can compare Spanish Flu timelines and suggest that’s how Covid will pan out. Even with troop movements I’ve not seen anything to suggest the number of movements across borders is comparable. Globally we saw 4.5 Billion individuals taking flights last year for example. additionally...

Re: ever wish you were strong enough to ride single speed ?
I'd love a 3 speed. Even a 2 speed. Keep getting tempted to try a sturmey hub, but I think I know how it would go... At present, my SS is actually running a 2spd Sturmey kick-back hub. Sadly, the disc version is akin to rocking horse poo, I got mine through a friend of a friend in the US. SA in Eur...

Re: ever wish you were strong enough to ride single speed ?
I love the simplicity of climbing on my singlespeed as you are forced to find a nice rhythm in what is more often than not the wrong gear, or get off and walk. With a geared bike and a tough climb I sometimes find the array of gear options has a negative impact on my climbing ability as I often thin...

Re: Bonfire weekend bimble?
as all the big organised firework displays have been called off, I was considering going up to Alexandra Palace (North London) for a cracking view across the city but hadn't considered doing a bivvy up there but might get away with one although I imagine loads of people will have the same idea to go...

love to find a local independent bakery or chippy rather than use Greggs, chain fast food places or Supermarket sandwiches when on my travels. I tend to only carry snacks with me unless going somewhere really remote. My friend's retired parents have a campervan and annually drive down to southern Sp...

Re: New bike specs?
surprisingly little worth getting under £600 these days even without being overly bike snobbish about it - I was advising a friend's teenage daughter only last week, specs don't seem to vary hugely between the more established brands but availability is still crap. Is she looking for a Women's speci...

should have probably been clearer, my £2k approx budget is for a complete build, some of these frames and framesets are lovely but to bring them in under budget would require me to delve in skips for the rest of the build

Which Gradventourer?
Hitting 50 next year so decided I deserve a new bike, especially after not buying one this year due to redundancy concerns. Predominately will be used for tow paths, commuting, bit of light bikepacking and credit card touring where the terrain is a little more forgiving. Currently do not have a cycl...

Whilst I think it's great that disadvantaged youngsters get to do activities etc I'm not sure bikepacking is a particularly good fit due to amount of kit required, as someone else said, hillwalking would be an easier option to encourage a love of the outdoors. There have been a couple of threads I h...

Polaris have AM Vapour jackets reduced down to £34.99 (plus p&p) at the moment. I've been watching these humming and hahhing for a while at the previous sale price of £44.99 so when the price dropped another tenner I had to take the plunge. The jacket came this morning and seems really nice (fo...

had a rare free day yesterday but mainly due to the temperature being in the 30s and partly because I didn’t fancy attempting to bleed the rear brake on my preferred bike, I CBA and wasted the entire day pottering about the house. Today forced myself out at 10am and did a 3 1/2 hour local ride, main...

A Raleigh Chopper would be utterly awful for bikepacking if anyone has one, glad I tried out a mate 's refurbished MK II a few years ago as put me right off buying one
