Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
.33 oz is fine, I made dry bags out of it, don't sew it to increase the tarp size use the proper tape and double up with glue, I use aquaseal, tape line, glue line, second tape line works fine. For tie out points a couple of extra tabs stuck on and minimal stitching for small tie out loop. Look on S...

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
I'd forget the flex pillow, they give up too quickly, a thermarest stuff sack pillow is 57g, and the XLite pads really need the pump adding as without a high pressure they aren't too great. If you use a .33 oz/yd Cuben for the tarp you'll save more weight, it'll be around 60g, mix with 300lb breakin...

I'd gaffer tape a strip of inner tube under the straps, as for binning, let me know where the bin is!

Ditching BB30 running Middleburn
My Spearfish has a PFBB30 setup, from what I can see it's fit a conversion kit and bolt in new setup. Anybody done this, what conversion kit did you use? Stuck between using bb30 bearings with problem solver adaptor, or sleeving the bb shell and using a Hope BB that is sat with the cranks. Then my n...

Re: Highland Trail Race - Good Luck
Is the answer to the knee issue; supplement the training with more hike a bike and running to strengthen knees, then a supplement program based on fish oil, and liberal dosing with vitamin I? The training program I have here by Lynda Wallenfalls, includes a stack of hike a bike :? Was interesting vi...

Re: New jockey wheels, do they make much difference?
Standard Shimano caused my road bike to chatter loads, changed to Mt Zoom aluminium with ceramic bearings and much better shifting, use them on my Spearfish and KCNC aluminium on my Ala Carte.

Frog tape either side of seam and mix silnet with white spirit as it becomes paintable, fine paintbrush 1/2" is fine and paint seams.

Shortest section tarp pole
What's the shortest folded tarp pole you've found? Total length needs to be around the metre.

But a ukulele is so much better! You can sit strumming along at camp waiting for the meths burner. My neighbours hate mine! :D

Re: Any quilt users?
I have a down mat, great bit of gear, but if the temp is warranting a down mat I'll be using a suitable bag, used the quilt in autumn, but think a sleeping bag is better in winter, I like pulling the hood over. Cuben quilt, well if someone can point me in the direction of a down source I can knock o...

Re: Any quilt users?
Quilts are better I think, but then I went and got a 900 fill Marmot bag which kinda became the go to bag over my GoLite quilt. The worst thing about a quilt is getting a sleeping mat that feels good, the Neo XLite is horrible IMO

£50 for tyres compared to in excess of £500 for a 29er. Sounds a no brainer.

It 4 years of figuring it out on US Topo maps with the weight of the adventure cycling association working on it, then leg work on the ground! 4 years, now hopefully we may all have 4 years at least left on this planet, but personally I reckon you'll be needing more than a few wife points to figure ...
