I believe they are an endangered species so we shouldn't do that to them.

Stunning considering the weather differences for Phils round.

But, if we took the extra time away that the start section added in this year....very, very close.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

This is going to be a GPX to prove you didn't moment I fear :/ One of the problems with the lack of fine data from the SPOT - so lets not jump to any conclusions.

Steve Heading has had a mechanical - one of the Al's is having gastric issues (assuming Goldsmith) and they've bailed to the road.

Interesting to see how people cope with the upcomming hike a bike and the overnight strategy.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

How does this compare with Phil Simcock's time? Times are out comparison wise for day 1 - different start section. Start figuring it out from today on would be my suggestion. But, I didn't suspect so many to get to Ft. Aug so fast yesterday, we're possibly seeing the best trail conditions for the H...

A few people not started their SPOTs - possibly on, but not tracking - like IanFitz.

Also, there are probably some people who didn't make the start.

Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon

Thanks both - in my head the ideal bag has velcro round the bars and a pair of thin straps that loop under the forks (e.g. newer feedbags, wildcat lion etc.). This is all theoretical but should keep the bag off the headtube and cables... Maybe I'll try the ortieb or similar with some DIY straps at ...

Don't suppose you've tried the front pouch thing attached to the bars on it's own? Says you can do that on the website but no pictures... Any thoughts on how it might work out? Edit: found some photos on bikepacking.com review, looks like simple velcro round the bars and headtube attachment :( yes ...
