Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Amidst plenty of crappy news on Radio 4 up popped the CEO of Lakes National Park with a very sympathetic piece about us! Very cheery I think. Us as in the Boners or Us as in wild-campers  Amusing and cheery tale from yesterday.... On a Thursday I do my mum's shopping. Having just put the bags...

Re: Before I buy a Lunar Solo...
After the last few experiences in the bivy bag, I want a tent. The Gatewood Cape and Serenity Bug Tent are a bit too spendy for me at the moment. The Serenity bug net is really quite small, if you look at the dimensions of the floor it's only 214cm long x 66cm wide. That's not much bigger the a ful...

Re: Toobless ... Jeebuz H C
So £169 to get it sorted. Feeecckkking hell. Most expensive tyres on earth. One of my mates has an E36 M3, our hobby is virtually free compared to tyres for that  I had the bubbling sidewalls with my wtb resolutes but as you say the sealant stopped it and not had any issues since. Of note is t...

Re: What Handlebar Bell - I know forgive me
In the rockbros vs spurcycle differences, this article (written from Spurcycle's side) was fairly enlightening: https://cyclingtips.com/2016/08/a-tale-of-two-bells-spurcycle-vs-the-counterfeiters/ That's an interesting read. I had seen the rockbros ones first and then discovered the spurcycle after...

Re: What Handlebar Bell - I know forgive me
I'm not knocking the spurcycle, but they are very expensive. Somewhere in the middle ground would probably be right. I assume all the parts of a rockbros bell are machine made without human intervention? Just assembled and put in the boxes by people, I wonder how many I could do an hour? Now, if the...

Re: What Handlebar Bell - I know forgive me
I also have the rockbros copy and its a rather pathetic copy. The spurcycle must be one hell of a bell if the rockbros is pathetic.... mine stays on the bars, doesn't corrode, makes a ringing sound and does all that for years without maintenance, not really sure what else a bell should do? Notably ...

I hope you are taking an emergency bivy Of course, an Adventure Medical Kits Emergency Bivi. If I don't have a 'proper' bivi I always take it as it's so small. I even carry it when doing local runs after work in the winter, just in case. In the event of a fall/broken ankle etc. waiting for rescue i...

Re: Summer bivi... Luggage sizes
Not all of us have been in this game long enough to have lightweight, highly packable kit. In my list above the quilt is very packable. The bivi is a myog and probably a similar size to your army one. The mat was a klymit inertia x-frame 3/4. It does roll down to about the size of a can of redbull ...

Re: Cairngorms Loop 300 - September Group Start?
Geldie to Feshie traverse could be a challenge to get through before it gets dark and not an ideal trail in the dark..... Looking on the map and google earth there's about 5 miles which is only a feint path/trackless? There is still over 100 miles to go* at the start of that section so waiting for ...

I hadn't considered that option. - Not sure I could trust myself to keep going for that long in one shift. Don't let my lack of sense sway your race plan  I've ridden through on all the events I've done up to 300km, but I'm not a fast rider so to make up for it I just keep going for longer. Ev...

I've got a magnetic clip on the one I use in my rucksack, I brought the clip as an accessory. I think it was a platypus one.

Cheers chaps. It's for the Lomond Trossachs Loop. Not planning on taking a shelter on the Cairngorm Loop, or stopping.
I've seen your post about daylight and the trail in the dark though so I might have to reconsider that

It's worth looking up your MP to find their interests My MPs appears to be going to bbq's in lock-down with the leader of the Brexit party at a second home and taking his girlfriend, then claiming he thought it was a meeting about the test and trace app. When he reailsed it was a party he left earl...

Signed, but given their recent record on public opinion I don't hold out much hope of our signatures having much influence, but if you don't at least try then you are just complicit in the result.

Is it safe to leave the car in the Bridge of Tilt car park during the ride? Or is there somewhere close by that's better? And for those of you in Scotland, what time is it likely to get dark at night and light the next morning? Just thinking about battery life for the lights and I remembered that do...

I knew a chap who had an 8 port mini with 4 amal carbs on it that stuck out through the front of the bonnet. Re: Ti tent pegs: worthwhile or liability
It needs a graph for weigh/holding power :geek: Of note is that the Aluminum Spike (34g) failed at 58lb. The Ti nail (8g) failed at 32lb. So, would 2 x Ti nails close together with a y shaped line fail at a combined 64lb? They would only weigh 16g so stronger and lighter than a single aluminum spike...
