Johnny proves the very good point that no one is right and no one is wrong, bikes are bikes, fat bikes are fat bikes.

Re: Fat bike curious. What would you recommend

Smart looking bike john. Cheers for the tips about the oo. I'm not knocking the On One Fatty, I had one for 12 months and it's perfect for technical trails and trail centres for rides up to 6 hours. I sold it because I wasn't using my trail bikes because I was always on the Fatty. Anything else go ...

Re: Fat bike curious. What would you recommend

From what I've experienced the cheaper trail fatties are great fun and the closest to being the mythical 'all rounder' that fatbikes have been touted as being but.....they aren't any where near as capable in the conditions that fatbikes were originally intended for (snow/sand). I'll second this quo...

Re: tools and spares storage?

When have Bike Packers worried about fashion?

I've got saddlebags on each and every bike, all loaded ready to ride out of the door, so I don't waste riding time faffing while looking for this and that.

Saddlebags rock

Re: Snow bivi'ing photos

John (and all), Am planning on posting something in the UK fatbikes forum about this but it fits here too..... I was thinking that it might be nice to see if we can't get a group together for a winter Jura fatbikepacking trip. It's a very quick drive up into the hills from Geneva airport (cheap eas...

Paging ALL Fat Bike owners

I know there are a few Fat Bike riders on here and this isn't a Bivi ride, but if the admin's don't mind I'd like to tell you about Global Fat Bike ride Day on Saturday 5th December. Us Brits started it but the Yanks have taken it over (as usual  ) The first Saturday of December is this years ...

If you've got an old Android phone, have wifi and a power socket near your bikes this free security app looks fantastic.

Re: Why rigid?

When bike packing you tend to spend a lot more time with your bike rather than a full susser at a train centre, because of this you tend to "live" with it and rest/stop more so I find there is more risk of scratching the stanchions with the stop starting, gate opening, Throwing bikes with ...

John have you ever tried to fit your tri-bars to them? I was considering a set of tri-bars for those long boring road straights when touring but the bulge on the digest bars seems very narrow. No, but I have them on my Jones bars on my Angus 29er+ and they have a similar step down which I've shimme...
