Re: shimano disc pads with fins .....worthwhile??

Personally I find in deep in enough puddles the fins add some much needed downforce to boost traction.

Other half has just got this on- I wondered if there's be a thread here!

He did just say it took him 11 hours to do 42miles so I'm guessing either stu did the route planning or filming takes a lot of time

Re: Genesis "Fugio"....

I'd like to compare it to something like the Cotic RoadRat or Escapade frames I had a pompetamine, when it got stolen I replaced it with a mk1 roadrat second hand. The roadrat definitely feels springier- now there may be something in the fact that I tend to run the Roadrat singlespeed and the Pomp ...

No, although in a week I should hopefully be trundling back along the french coast leg of it after a lap of Brittany so I hope it's good!

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Wow, lost one I really have expected- right in the middle of loads of others! Very happy that reloading a ride got me back one square in particular though- it's right in the middle of an awkward bit of land, all the roads and bridleways go round it except for one which just skirts the corner. I chec...

Re: wtd, XL Krampus. frame or bike

I don't know if it's helpful but I saw a large Rooster frame on stw- the reach figure is pretty close to the XL krampus. The ETT is a fair bit shorter, but I thought it might be worth a look.

Re: M4 Corridor Bikepacking (England)

Do you have a rough idea of the sort of mileage/hilliness/amount of 'proper' singletrack you'd want to cover? You'd be in the sort of area where you can drop in and out of towns easily so this may influence you one way or another if you want remoteness vs reassurance of a pub/shop. That said, I did ...

Re: M4 Corridor Bikepacking (England)

If you did want to come in thw general direction of the surrey hills but not into audi and enduro bike central I'd be hapoy to advise on a route- lots of trails that the majority of people on leith, holmbury and pitch will never ride. For example if you wanted a point to point you could do a pretty ...

Tiny little early rider bike for my OH's niece. It's vaguely exciting. Lovely shiney tubes. Would add a picture but can't figure out how to make it small enough on my phone

Re: Todays ride

Bit of a zig-zaggy deviation on the commute home today, south of the greensand ridge, to pick up some odd veloviewer squares that arent really on the way to anywhere i go. Saw some nicely bluebelled woods and managed to tie the ends of few roads I'd not been down together. And bumped up the max squa...

Re: Todays ride

Finally got round to sorting some pictures out... Last weekend the club ride was from Bury Hill in the South Downs- I'm not keen on driving to rides if I can avoid it and the railway line to the start was out of action, so a last minute plan was hatched Friday afternoon at work. Got home, rushed aro...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Mine is still stuck at the 9x9 it's been since shortly after starting it. That said, I've been attempting to fill in all of my local OS map which means I'm getting pretty close to having a lot of equally sized squares making up a rectangle. Cross bike has been lovely for nipping in and out of the li...

Re: SS Boost Hubs with freewheel thread?

but I'm not one for having things that need to be bodged to work on my bikes, I like things that work and don't need tweaking For what it's worth I've been using one of the front hub boost adaptors (2xmm spacers electrical taped to existing hope 15mm end caps and a 5mm rotor spacer) and it's gone e...

Re: Wtd: Cotic 'Solaris'

Full bag, Alpkit, webbing loops/ladder around the sides rather than big velcro flaps. Seems in perfectly good order- to be honest I bought it and then a revelate bag came up on here that fits pretty much all of my bikes so that's what I've been using instead. Been meaning to sell just haven't got ro...

Re: Wtd: Cotic 'Solaris'

That's a shame- i was going to offer a frame bag if it was a medium. To my knowledge never been used, i bought it here/possibly stw second hand and then managed to get a tangle bag which fits other bikes as well. Been meaning to sell it on!

Re: The post man's been ...

It's my birthday- my friends clubbed together and bought me a kindle paperwhite which should be grand for reading in the tent as it glows of its own accord (and i was really jealous or my OHs kindle touring last summer). My sister bought me the Book of Lost Lanes for the south which i hope to make t...

I never knew you got an adaptor headset, cheers.
Hope do a crown race adaptor that works with their normal tapered headset- not sure if that's what was meant but it means i can swap back and forth easily between a tapered steerer suss fork and straight rigid.

I'll second the btwins. I find them great up to about a proper half day ride, then the slightly lighter pad starts to tell a little. I've used dhbs a lot in the past too- not the basic ones and not the expensive ones, mid range have been the ataple of my shorts wardrobe for a few years now. Having s...

Pipedream Alice looks nice

Haven't looked at the geometry in any detail/at all, but it looks pretty!

I like the 30.9 seatpost, shame they haven't put a hole in for a stealth dropper for occasional bouts of mucking about on given it takes 2.1s

Interesting, i like the fact the drops on the woodchippers are straight- on the singlespeed i can move to the ends to change the grip and get a bit more leverage.
