Which 3 to 4 Season Glove do you Recommend?

Up until last week, I had a pair of Giro Blaze gloves, which I was very happy with. Unfortunately I lost one, which has vexed me greatly. I really liked them, so I'm probably going to get the same again. The only slight downside is that they aren't very good on my phone screen; even though they're s...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I'm selling my old hybrid, so I've removed the Jones bars and riser stem and replaced the original bars and stem, took the tubeless 40mm tyres off and refitted the 32mm tyres and tubes. I found the large chainring that I ditched a while ago and reinstalled that too. I've ordered a new seat as well, ...

Re: If you've got a phone - answer it.

Well I think you're all mad. I answered a call just last week from a nice Nigerian lady who I've helped out securing her uncles fortune. Apparently, it was lost in a shipwreck and me sending her £2000 means that they'll be able to hire a diver to retrieve it and best of all, for helping out, she's ...

Got mine at Sport pursuit when there was a sale on, just looked and they still seem to have various colours for sale - £25 isn't bad for merino, and i've found they stay fragrant too

Perfect, thanks very much :-bd

Re: That gear "Eureka" moment.

Related to the above - tried out (lightly) padded merino boxers from vulpine. Wow, so comfy and less faff than bib shorts, which i've been wearing underneath everything for years. Didn't notice them on a 30 miles road ride recently. And you can go for a p!ss easily in them too! :-bd I'd never heard...

Another vote for the Nitecore NU25, fantastic headtorch. I also have a NU32 that I use in winter.

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

I've got a pair of old Crocs with worn out soles, so I got some dot pattern sticky rubber and glued it on. I mostly use them for canoeing, but the sticky rubber makes the soles quite a bit stiffer and even better for cycling in.

I had a Zpacks pole extender, which broke on first use despite being reinforced with Gorilla tape. I ended up buying one of the long Alpkit poles, which has been brilliant.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

I've often thought that the ledges under motorway bridges would make nice dry spots, albeit noisy ones  I bivvied under a bridge on the A66 when I was 14 or 15. I'd been backpacking in the northern fells and nobody would give a smelly teenager a lift as I tried to hitch back to Workington. I ...

Re: Where Can I Buy a Sew-On Hydration Port?

I've never seen such a thing but fabbing something from a piece of Hypalon shouldn't be too difficult ... reckon I'd start by cutting a small cross in the centre of a piece and passing the tube through the resulting 'cat's bum' :-bd I suspected that I might have to down that route, but was hoping t...

Where Can I Buy a Sew-On Hydration Port?

I want to add a port for a hydration bladder tube to my bike's frame bag. Is it possible to buy a sew-on port from anywhere?

Re: A Highland Tour - map 25 (picture heavy)

Looks like a great trip. Those insects you mentioned sound like keds - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipoptena_cervi I've only encountered them in Sweden, but I've never been bitten by one. I once found one in my clothing when I returned from a walk, and after chasing it around my torso for a whil...

Useful Side by Side Mapping / Aerial Website.

I found this link recently that shows an OS map side by side with aerial photos, so if you want to find out if that bridleway or trail you fancy using is real or imaginary, you can have a look first. https://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm Disclaimer: It may take away the thrill of discovering th...

Re: Horsepacking

Great story.

When I was in Scouts , we used to stay in a bothy at Gillerthwaite in Ennerdale. The farmer who owned it was a bloke called Bob Orrell who wrote (among others) a series of "Saddle Tramp" books about his horsepacking adventures.

I'd be interested in seeing a gradient profile for that. I know a few people who are very experienced hillwalkers who were very surprised at the amount of up and down on the South West Coast Path.

I can't help with the sewing part of the question (replacing a button is about my technical limit), but I'm sure that you'd be able to have the down in your current quilt reused in your next. On a related subject, how do you find your UK Hammocks quilt for ground sleeping? Mine's great in the hammoc...

I've been looking for something similar for a while, but in a synthetic material.
