Tim,
That's a crazy angle you've got your brake levers set at - almost straight down!
Is that because of the bar bag or just your usual set-up?

It's fitted into a Wildcat Tiger, which are in the final stages of testing 8-) oooh, top secret new product hey? looks great. when are you thinking they might be released??? i'll go ahead and make a half-arsed version for now (have some straps laying around the place) but i'll be very interested to...

4litre airlock under saddle - tarp, bivvi bag, waterproofs etc Ian, how's that airlock bag mounted??? did you do something similar to the alpkit feature on making your own airlock seat-bag or is it your own design? i've been thinking of using an airlock (either mounted a way i figure out or as per ...

Re: Anyone use a tent while bikepacking?
flatfishy, oooh, even more tempting! the only reason i've got any reservations at all about this one (or the 'Laser Comp 1' when it was on sale) is the room. i've been told by folks in the know that i'd struggle to fit inside the Gelert 'Solo' and the Gelert is bigger (internally) than either of the...

Re: Anyone use a tent while bikepacking?
ok, here's where i'm at (at this point any/all help appreciated): i recently lost my tarp and groundsheet and so need to replace them with something. a like-for-like replacement will run to about £70 (incl. p&p). but..... for that i could almost get a Six Moons 'Skyscape Scout' ($125/£75). but.....

Re: Anyone use a tent while bikepacking?
the poles are 75g each and $14 and i've already got some pegs i'll use and so it's not looking like a bad option.
i've got my eye on a few eBay laser comp's but they're not as 'tall-fella' friendly and ones i've previously watched have gone for more than this'll cost me.

how about the six moons one???
under a kilo and only 75 of your english pounds!
suitable for the taller bikepacker too.
think i might be investing on one!

that's where i'm at - everything changes once the duration is over a week.didnothingfatal wrote:That's the easy question when it's a overnight or weekend. Couple of weeks out, different kettle of fish.
any/every single factor could change in that time.

that works....?
just regular DIY shop bathroom silicon diluted with white spirit?
sounds too easy a solution (but i'm hoping it does as i've got some laying around the place somewhere).

Re: Using Gelert Solo outer on it's own....?
Funny you should mention this Gairy, I've just been drawing an idea for a tarp/tent hybrid ... single skin, detatchable bathtub groundsheet, open both ends but with adjustable beaks. cool, any chance of seeing your blueprints (i'd need to scale up your measurements if i wanted something that would ...

i'm now toying with the idea of a MYOG tarp/single-skin tent.
anyone know any resources which would outline technique, equipment needed etc...
anyone done this themselves?
anyone know of any suppliers/prices of suitable silnylon?
any/all help appreciated.

Re: Using Gelert Solo outer on it's own....?
ray, i got a nice little silnylon tarp from Stuart a while back (1.5m x 3.3m and 300(ish) grams) and it's fine for good weather but my bigger 3m x 3m tarp had the ability to make something a little more suited to stinky weather conditions. so.....i could get a terra nova 'comp 2' tarp for 55 quid wh...

No offence obviously of course not - i'm aware i'm a big fella. ray, fair enough - i've never seen/used one and so didn't know if/how it might work but it doesn't sound like it would (at least not very well). i'm asking as i recently lost my dd 3m x 3m tarp and integral designs groundsheet and so a...

Re: Using Gelert Solo outer on it's own....?
In all honesty I'm not convinced you'd actually fit in one ;) ouch! you talking about length or girth? it says it's 250cm internally (and that's with the inner and i'm only 187cm). http://www.gelert.com/images/sized/images/tentplans/ten252%20SP-274x183.jpg is this them being generous? me aside - my...

Using Gelert Solo outer on it's own....?
anyone got any thoughts on this idea? obviously it normally pitches inner first but surely with two little/light straps to hold the two ends of the two poles at the correct distance there's no reason why you couldn't just pitch the outer on it's own and have a great little shelter without the weight...

Re: Video Camera
if money's no object then GoPro seem the best quality but i use a Kodak 'Playsport ZX3'.
the zx5 is newer and the same price but has an inbuilt battery as opposed the removable one in the zx3.
they're much cheaper and work great!
take a look at some results here.
