Looong Saddles?

Has anyone particularly looked at longer saddles? My absolute favourite is a Chromag Trailmaster, which are hard to get in the UK. I have also seen that brooks cambium is almost as long, I had a C15 in the past and didn't get on with it but someone suggested a C17 carved may work more comparably to ...

QR bolt through axle?

Hi, Looking to replace bolt through axles, in particularly the front one with a bolt through axle. Possibly. I take the front wheel off regularly, 6 times a week perhaps. No big deal I know but it would be convenient to use a bolt through with a little handle on. I have seen DT Swiss but am aware th...

Re: Recommend me a tent (2 person, ~£300)

MSR ELixr 2 is very roomy. Mine has been robust without needing a footprint. 2.27kg. Not tiny pack size. Same ish design as Hubba Hubba but heavier materials. My only other recent 2 man tent experience is a Nordisk telemark 2, which I love but is too expensive and not roomy for 1 full size human :gr...

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

103kg start 103kg today. 102.9kg today. Which must be an error as I was on holiday last week, but I'll take it!! Haven't really changed food habits yet, but am starting that this week as I have been paying attention and notice that more and more I live on stodgy carbs pretty much. Riding, I started ...

Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

I switched to a tent from a tarp a while ago (just before a hiatus from bivving / camping much at all as it happened) My reasons... and these are all purely my opinion obvs. I found flat tarps to be a bit of a pain in the bum to set up always low to the ground (unless massive). Yes, I knew how to us...

Re: The magic roundabout ...

Well, for all the talk of pinion, electric shifting and Ti… I’ve resolved my magic roundabout….. I’ve bought another Jones 👍 I can leave my original SWB as SS … I now have 1x11 LWB Plus Spaceframe with Truss fork. I’ve always loved the original one, so this addition should fill a gaping hole left b...

Re: What's your single best item you own for camping?

A pillow.

I know it makes me soft, or old... I don't care

For bike camping. I have a sea to summit Aeros (I think), it packs tiny and makes a massive improvement to comfort.

Motorcycle camping. I have a klymit luxe pillow which is fantastically comfortable.

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Some days damage limitation is the best we can do mate. For me, 103kg start 103kg today. Either my scales are stuck, or I'm not doing enough. (I know the answer to this) Marginally frustrating as I've been sure to exercise (ride) every day for at least an hour for the last 23 days and to see no prog...

Re: The magic roundabout ...

So I was thinking possibly a Sonder Broken Road Pinion, with the electric smartshift option.... probably 650b for more tyre volume. I love the idea of the massive gear range ( I NEED very low gearing) of the pinion. Also if Gates Belt drive , virtually nothing to go wrong. reading this reminds me o...

Re: Electric Socks

Back in my clipless pedal days I felt the cold through bottom, also I use flats now and using plastic pedals greatly improves this over aluminium ones. Big comfy socks and roomy boots then does it for me. You can also get all kinds of winter footbeds, reflective wool etc. I havnt progressed to insul...

Re: The magic roundabout ...

If its something special, bought with the 'thanks' that you say, I should try to get something adaptable personally. For me, that has certain criteria such as fitting SS or Gears, or a gear hub even. MTB for me with mid travel fork like a 120 that allows a rigid fork etc. Ti for me. That way I can m...

Re: How much grief can I expect?

When I had one, everyone had a story about how it was going to let me down. EGR valve was going to break, dual mass flywheel was going to break etc etc. I ran mine from 40k to 90k with no issues though. I think in reality, they probably don't break much more than other vans, but there are loads of t...
