Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

That's a lot of red. Remember not to be pushing too hard, too often, and that fatigue drops faster than fitness so a little recovery time is a GOOD thing.

I am off to do a sacrifice to the weather gods as I got wet once for 1 hour [ Glasgow at the end of the day] and the highlands weather gift was sun burn and the last day was a 40 mph tail wind - Offers burnt remnants of bibs shorts to the gods You're welcome. A thank you would be fine.

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

Do you use a heart rate monitor? If so then I suggest signing up to intervals.icu as a way of making sure that your training is productive and you don't over-train. It'll also help you schedule your training during those last few days prior to the event. I'm not exactly au fait with all the science ...

The Wildcat harness design is ten (or the best part thereof) years old so others have had time to adapt features. Until recently Revelate were integrated harness/bag only.
I've had mine for eight years.

Re: Revelate harness v Salsa EXP cradle v Revate Pronghorn

OTOH I've not had any droop problems with my Revelate combo. Could just be down to packing differently. I guess that any heavy items jammed in the ends - further out than the harness supports - could weigh the end down a bit? The only problem I've had is that the straps on the bars loosen off a bit ...

Re: help me find my Garmin maps - please!

Give the SD contacts a good clean (a soft cloth not sandpaper!!) in the 1030. Be gentle..... Do you know anyone else with a Garmin? (with SD card slot, so not the new "Plus" ones). Try their Garmin and your SD card (and vice versa). I assume it used to work and now doesn't (and the 1030 h...

The fork crown - the bit at the top of the fork legs. Wrap the straps between that and the mudguard, then the bag will rotate with the forks.

Have you tried wrapping that green strap around the fork crown instead of the headtube?

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

Can I ask a question? The thing that causes the most faffage for me is fiddling about with my garmin screen, trying to see the route, when the path isn't obvious. How do you deal with the oft mentioned tussocky bog sections? Do you have the screen zoomed out a bit and just head in roughly the right...

Not in my experience.

Is the charger plugged in and switched on prior to connecting the lamp?

White Marigolds? I'm out BTW. Not "out" as in out bivvying, "out" as in "no longer part of BAM this year". I've been increasingly less motivated this year. Not just BAM, a lot of things. I was struggling to make it for May. June has been a bit of a shitshow all round. W...

Re: Are Hope brakes hard to bleed?

SRAM is also DOT fluid btw In my experience from bike shop mechanicing, there's a very good reason Hope spares are readily available... In any case, my suggestion would be that you get a test ride on a bike with the brakes you are considering. They can feel completely different to what you're used t...

Re: The (almost, kindof) perfect down/synthetic jacket and spork/fork?

TBH I reckon they're all much of a muchness. Just do a Google search for Primaloft Gold jackets and check out a few weights/features until you find the right mix. The Prism has a decent hood and a couple of reflective patches on the back. I've never weighed it but it's generally been warm enough and...

Re: The (almost, kindof) perfect down/synthetic jacket and spork/fork?

My insulated jacket of choice for many years has been the Montane Prism. Currently I also have an Endura Flipjack (also synthetic) which is working out well. What problem did you have with your current spork? I reckon they're all much the same, though the folding one I have is a bit short for eating...

GWR said it had to be done in certain ways, with scored music, certain length of time and to break the existing Austrian record. I can't remember what was suggested originally to them, but they came back saying it had to be done that way. Breaking an existing record, I sort of get but who was the f...

Re: Don't try this at home kids ...

Scary. TBH I reckon the scariest bit would be the slowing down.

However, I'd like to know how folk come up with "official record" challenges like this. I mean, can you just invent any record challenge regardless of how many folk have / haven't tried it or even thought of it previously?

Range: I read an article about the Orbea Rise which is an interesting bike. They've kept the weight low and battery small so as not to degrade the bike handling so much. It does have an optional battery extender but, even then, it's 70 miles max range. https://www.surgebikes.co.uk/orbea-rise-battery...

Good going on singlespeeding that lot!

The last time I rode the Cairnwell there was frost forecast for the evening so I bivvied in one of the extended doorways of the ski centre before whizzing down to Braemar for breakfast in the Fife Arms.
