Re: January's Virtual Winter Event 2021 (Covid lockdown edition) Jan 9th and 10th

Having read the latest announcement for Scotland, I’m probably going to delay my VWE, nice route planned could do it all in a day at a push but probably wouldn’t be prudent. I’ll have a look closer to Friday and maybe split it into two day rides. Exercise rules don’t seem to have changed yet apart f...

Re: What are your feelings about next year?

I think it will be the same s**t till late next year at the earliest, varying levels of lockdown until vaccines starts kicking in. Combined with Brexit (an observation, not starting a political debate) 2021 will be another bad year. 2022 before things start to return to ‘normal’ whatever that will b...

Re: Where is everyone?

Othering is a phenomenon in which some individuals or groups are defined and labeled as not fitting in within the norms of a social group. It is an effect that influences how people perceive and treat those who are viewed as being part of the in-group versus those who are seen as being part of the ...

Re: Where is everyone?

Actually, I think I've discovered that it's to do with how the forum software views 'visitors' and now only counts visitors as people posting over a given time frame as opposed to browsing. Is 'othering' a real word? Some people dislike Strava, some people don't. Some people enjoy the FF500, some p...

Re: Do you strava?

I use it to record rides, like the data for checking progress fitness wise. Not fussed if I don’t record a ride and I like to see the mileages others do in a non stalker type fashion. Some of the challenges they put up I use as a source of encouragement. Share now and again on social media but penis...

Tried Zwift but the gamefication put me off after a while, similar but more ‘fun’ RGT with actual rides (Mt Ventoux was epic) Now just use TrainerRoad purely as a training tool, Quite a few choices of programmes to cater for what you want to achieve. Ive a few free trials to give away, once I work o...

Re: Cycling glasses... getting old

I've just got a pair of these and so far have only worn them when walking the dog to see how they feel. So far they are great, having never worn bifocals before and being new to any kind of glasses, I wasn't sure what to expect but by flicking my eyes down can read my phone screen and then looking ...
