Re: Bothies and covid

There are loads of huts in the Dales that are very rarely used. I bet fewer than 10 people per year. The trick is knowing where they are ;-) https://i.postimg.cc/2yP1G8nL/DSCN2990.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/2jJLrTgj/DSCN2991.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fbwJBPSC/DSCN2993.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/QdgFgDCV/...

I'll try. I don't know enough about c-fibre but there are no frilly fibre bits hanging out at the break. I wonder if they weren't well laid?

Mind, not as much as Dave Barter is now wondering!!

Re: My BB200 2020 (may contain spoilers).

Was it a crash Chris or amazing power up all the hills? Sadly it was not the power up the hills. It was the total numptyness crashing on a pretty rough bit of farm track and probably lack of concentration. As always it wasn’t a particularly gnarly bit which is probably the reason for a lapse. Or so...

My sad ending. 150Km ridden in total. Re: BB200 2020

After sneaking into the spare bed at 345am, 72+85km of riding into my snapped bars failed bikepack race, then 5hr drive - I'm in the doghouse for a bed covered in chain oil, sheep sub standard, thistle spikes, sweat and more. What don't some people understand of natural animal magnetism?

Re: BB200 2020

Ah.... I got home at 345am today. 72km in 6.5hrs was on for <24hr but then crashed and snapped my bars off. 85km road ride back to car with no RHS brake, no gears & LHS bar only to hold on to. More adventure than I bargained for!!

Re: BB200 2020

Are riders setting out this weekend? I'm hoping to set off from Fforest Inn an Saturday morning. It looks like we might have just dropped lucky with the weather albeit the ground won't have dried very much. I'm not fast etc and not far off getting a bus-pass so don't expect me to overtake anyone :lo...

Re: BB200 2020

I'm hoping to ride the BB200 starting on Saturday 17th from Fforest Inn. It will be the first time in Wales since trailquesting in about 2001/2002 so a bit of a shock! Hopefully they have hardcored all those tracks and put in some good drainage and new gates on all those sunken wet bridleways that i...

Re: BB200 2020

Is it a farmer's responsibility to maintain a ROW and/or it's furniture (i.e. gates, stiles etc)? I thought it was the local authority's. IIRC a user is entitled to remove something that prevents their legitimate use of a RoW (e.g. a lock) without reference to anyone else. I could be wrong on both ...

Re: BB200 2020

Steve, I think it's partly to do with it being something unusual. Round here the farmers are fairly used to seeing mountain bikers out at night so it's not really a problem. I suspect those around Stu are more aware/forgiving of innocent nocturnal activities. There'll always be exceptions of course...

I may be wrong, but I think that this is the farm right at the very start/end of Stuarts route.

Re: BB200 2020

Now then Stu, did you have a really good drink before you rode the route to record it and give us the GPX? It might be the case that I need to then have a similar amount to drink before setting off! I now I’m really anal, but I’ve been spending some time looking at the BB200 track as I’m hoping to r...

Re: Dales Divide 2020 .. who's going?

I would encourage anyone to ride the Dales Divide. Last year I think about 20 or 25 rode, this year I’ve had 100 entries so far. It is super relaxed. The course will look something like this; https://i.postimg.cc/50xkLFS9/2019-12-21.png The ethos of the event is that you are known to be doing the be...

Dales Divide 2020

Dales Divide 2020 Just to let everyone know that the Dales Divide, which ran in 2019, will be running again in 2020, just a placeholder to keep the days free for Easter. It will set off, as before, at 8am on Good Friday from Arnside, 10 April 2020. In most ways it will be similar to 2019. About 600...

Re: Dales Divide.

Press to turn on and all the lights flash Then press the footprint symbol button for 2-3 secs till it lights up Then put the tracker outside somewhere in view of the sky Then go to trackleaders web page map and you should appear.  You need to do that every time you ride. If you don't move fir some h...

Re: Dales Divide.

I had always said that the Trackleaders track is the defining 'proof'. As Stu is the first, and his SPOT batteries failed, it makes sensible-sense that his GPX track is counted. That said, there isn't a £1million prize, so I don’t expect the sports Court of Arbitration to get involved! It's a good t...

Re: Dales Divide.

I had a text from Stu. His SPOT batteries ran out at 2am. He finished safely at 3am, at Arnside. He has the Garmin GPX as proof. That makes about 3days 12.5hrs. WELL DONE STU! You are the first to complete.

Looks like he stopped at about 2am with about an hour or 90min riding still left to do. I guess he's bolloxed!
