TCW GPX

I've been poking around the traps for a complete TCW GPX. Seems IMBA's site is properly hosed...if anyone has this archived and is happy to share, pls let me know. Furthermore...has anyone done this in the winter and if so, just how sloppy does it get? Could be a good weekender or a try for a single...

A pleasure to ride with you all...and cheers for the "lead beard" role...my wife was tickled by that. :)

I'm presuming eating cold pre-cooked yellow death with scotch bonnets isn't allowable as an entry? :)

I'll be going back...still pretty hacked off with myself for not finishing this year. F*#!&%g bio/mechanicals. Plus I have a bone to pick with Sheep Creek Divide.

Re: South West Winter Bivi

A slim maybe from this end of the stick...all depends on a number of variables. I'd have to ride down from the midlands the night before...so I'd be pretty vacant (more so than normal) for the first few hours until some hot caffeine was sought.

SO 2087. I can't count the hours spent riding those tracks. It was near enough to me that I could ride there, train for a few hours and get back before I bonked.

Re: Winter Bivvy Cymru - details.

Oh no...didn't mean for you to do all that...I found the car park. Just wanted to make sure I could get there riding my bike. Coming in from the north, there's a little P> sign that points to a bunch of bracken which made me laugh, then just around the corner is the 'driveway'. I was good to tap out...

Popped out for a reccy ride today to make sure I could find said car park...sure is nice up there Mr S8tan. You'll have to teach me how to pronounce the location though. *grins* Nice grind coming in from the north.

Flights in/out of Vegas are cheap due to the casinos subsidising them. Makes for a nice road trip though New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada.

Re: How many miles have you ridden in a day?

132 'n a bit miles - Atlantic City to Rawlins, Wyoming on a loaded 29er. A beautiful ride across a big, empty space full of gravel and washboard. No wind...not too hot...passed by maybe 4 cars the whole day until the last 10 miles which was windy and full of traffic.

Sure...that sounds pretty good. Mrs Scattamah is overseas this xmas and I'm on call xmas day...so I'd consider something like that a gift not to be sneezed at. As to the whole rain thing...sometimes it's just too much for even the nicest of jackets and you're going to get wet. Now...if I could get a...

Re: How long could you do it for?

I reckon you could go for quite some time with unlimited funds. A shower or room once a week...you'd get pretty adept at finding wild camping spots/not being shot at by a farmer. Maybe cover 50 miles a day taking it easy with quite a bit of sightseeing. Start in the summer and given the right gear g...

Re: Long Mynd - 22/23 Nov

I heard the weather in your area was pretty bad...in a strange twist, the skies didn't open at all in west Salop until 2am...stopped around 3 or 4am...and dry all the way back home Sunday morning. The Mynd is pretty muddy though...plenty of standing water around.

Long Mynd - 22/23 Nov

After meandering around the back lanes out of Shrewsbury... greatEscapeFromTown.jpg ...had a good climb up from Picklescott to Pole Bank in the dark. summitingPoleBank.jpg Crossed the top of the Mynd to the southern end and into the forest. Found a nice pitch in the dark, but alas my pitching skills...

Re: How did you get into riding?

Being a non-motorised kinda bloke, I've always had a bike. From an early age, there were the obligatory fixies, dragsters, bmx and kmart-stylee heavy road things. In the early 90's I picked up a road bike from a mate...nice Reynolds 531 with Velocity Aeroheads and 105 all over it. That was when the ...

I can get up onto the Edge from here...it's an easy paved ride and a good warm up. I'm interested to see a new way to get from the Edge down into Church/Little Stretton.

Re: 22nd/23rd looking for a bivi

The Mynd or Stiperstones...I've seen you mention that a few times. I've pitched in the forest up on the Kerry Ridgeway a few times, but it's hit 'n miss in the dark. Mendips might be a bit far as I'm not a motorised kinda bloke...I'd like to have some legs left for any type 2 fun that may occur. I'l...

Slime tubes in an attempt to counter the rampant hedge cutting that's going on about the place. Tried tubeless? Yeah...although with varying results.
