Spot Trackers

Just wondered who has one and uses it on their rides/ trips? As you may know I have one and used it for personal and family amusement on the recent Radnor Ring and Wales C2C trips. I also use it on day rides so Beth can see how far I am from home and when I'm likely to be back without having to send...

Re: Bear Bones 200 Route Details.

Typical tweet being: 'At Elan Valley re-applying suntan lotion and enjoying ice cream #bb200' Maybe last week, but I doubt I'd be so lucky again. From local knowledge, you'll get signal within reasonable proximity to most main road crossing points, or close to villages. The extreme SW corner ...

I don't know how you find half this stuff?

The bargain alert thread is the same - stuff from online shops I've never heard of. You must spend all your spare time trawling the interest for bargains and such like...

Re: Wales Tour: Great Orme to Worm's Head

Day 4 :: 01 October 2011 :: Glasfynydd Forest to Worm's Head 113km, 2083m ascent. When we camped the previous night, it was dark and I said to Jack and Kevin you'll love the view in the morning. After a night of the gentle lapping of water and sound of fish popping to the surface, not to mention the...

Re: Wales Tour: Great Orme to Worm's Head

As well as the sunny dry days, the nights were dew free. This meant we could just unroll our mats and sleep in our bags under the stars. Each morning I could pack me gear away feeling very dry. The heat of the day was more difficult to manage. I deliberately didn't take a camelbak as I wanted to rid...

Day 3 :: 30 September 2011 :: Nant-yr-Arian to Glasfynydd Forest (Usk Reservoir) 120km, 3900m ascent I woke early on Day 3. It was still dark outside, at least. We were moving by about 7.30am, and an easy road ride down Ponterwyd lead to a refuelling stop at the garage. A cup of tea, packet of crisp...

Re: Wales Tour: Great Orme to Worm's Head

Mark, glad you had a good ride. I was convinced that when we left the beach that you'd be infront of us and I couldn't figure why we hadn't caught you. Never occurred to me that you might be behind us, and I never really looked back other than to glance at the general view. Pleasure to have ridden w...

Re: Bear Bones 200 Route Details.

Having had a look at this in more detail, I think navigation in the dark might be more straight forward than I imagined as there are good road sections further round. As the route goes up Devil's Staircase, it might be an advantage to do it in the dark...

Day 2 :: 29 September 2011 :: Coed-y-Brenin to Nant-yr-Arian 110km, 3085m ascent Day 2 dawned a little bit cloudy but warm. I was certainly warm overnight, marginally too hot if anything, in my PHD Minim bag. We had a short road climb back up from the pub to gain a good double track through grazing ...

Re: Radnor Ring

Ian, is that edging tape I spy covering up the internal seams on your new Wildcat bag? Very nice attention to detail, is that standard or a treat for someone special I like the new badges too. Yes, that's grosgrain tape edging all the internal seams. It's not special for me - every single bag we've...

Wales Tour: Great Orme to Worm's Head

Day 1 :: 28 September 2011 :: Great Orme to Coed-y-Brenin 85km, 2200m ascent First leg of the trip was to get up to North Wales in the train. It was late, predictably. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6074/6208740932_f680a39e16.jpg Waiting by ianbarrington , on Flickr I met up with Jack and Mark at th...

Thanks for the email on the track. Much better, but as Matt says the track goes clockwise not anticlockwise.

Re: Bear Bones 200 Route Details.

Well, I've only just opened them up, but my first problem is the file configuration. The GPX file consists of 1400 odd way points and no "track" to upload to GPS, so I've got to spend however long creating a track along the line of your waypoints unless I can think of a workaround. As a re...

Right then, this trip is going ahead and the weather looks lovely. They'll be four of us: me, 99percentchimp, nostoc and numplumz.
