Re: BB200 2023

@Rich on the Bearbones when you and your other half opened the tuck shop. Roughly at what milage was that on the route pls? Been a while, but I think it might have been something like 110-120km. Thing is, it's not so much about distance as it is about what terrain is in that distance. I've had 20km...

Re: BB200 2023

I could do with a couple more hours on that sunset time.

Always much tougher in the dark to do the sections where there's no obvious route. Lights are a poor substitute for the sun.

Plenty boozers en-route anyway
Where? Looks as dry as north wales
There's about 6 in one of the towns.

Plus if you get your timing right you could visit it twice (admittedly going slightly off route the second time).

There's a river crossing I can see, but I can't seem to see any sort of actual crossing... given the size of the river I really hope it's just the various satellite pics not being particularly detailed.

Not a great deal of... anything. Edit - Barely even on Strava heatmaps. Timings will be interesting. Going to be cutti...

06/01/22: 67.6kg
---- BIG GAP ----
15/09/2023: 62.7kg (-1.3kg)
22/09/2023: 61.9kg (-0.8kg)
29/09/2023: 61.3kg (-0.6kg)

Wont make 60kg for BB200, but I'd consider 59kg to 62kg my "race weight" range anyway, so not the end of the world.

Re: The great British train scandal

I was impressed in Spain. I don't have much experience other than there though.

If I do Badlands again I may even choose to fly into Madrid and take the train down from there to Granada (don't particularly enjoy coach trips as I can't walk around).

Distance selling regs mean you can technically "cancel" the order no matter what they say anyway. Nothing they put in their T&Cs affects your statutory rights.

Re: cheap packable down/insulated clothing ??

I bought a half decent set of down trousers from Amazon. They aren't light, but they seemed pretty decent. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0728P95FB I've since replaced them with a spendy set from Cumulus, but I'd still recommend the original. I've just measured my narrow arse, and found that it is, indeed, narrow.

Looks like 130mm saddles are the sweet spot for me, which does limit my choice somewhat... I guess that's a good thing though, there are already way too many choices out there.

I bought the Edge 1040 for the battery life, which is unquestionably fantastic... but dear god do I hate the unit. It's slow, and the interface choices are a complete mystery to me.

I loved my Edge 1000, so this is especially annoying to me.
