Re: Any Kayaker's? Newbie tips wanted

Hi Rob, I've not paddled a tandem much so I imagine there is a bit of teamwork required with getting your paddle strokes in time. Other than that my top tips would be to make sure you are snug in the boat with your feet on the foot rests and ideally some padding around your hips, without this is eas...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Needed a mount to attach my dynamo light to the front of a truss fork, I wasn't keen to mount it on the bars as it'll get in the way of bar bags and generally make it less tidy. No mounts available that I could find so I made one myself out of an old crank arm. https://i.ibb.co/dBW6MLd/20190704-1724...

Re: Your bike collection

1. Jones 29er steel diamond frame with truss fork - vaguely exciting mountain bike, normally use it for bikepacking or longer offroad rides. 2. Jones 29er ti Spaceframe set up with 650b+ wheels - brilliant to ride, usually use it for shorter day rides 3. 80's Graham Weigh Road bike - I had it re-spr...

Re: Norway bikepacking

Thanks for the replies, I should've said I'm after paper maps because I don't do the GPS.

I'll bear the snow in mind, I'd rather avoid that so maybe I'll stay at lower altitudes.

Norway bikepacking

Hi All, I'm heading to Norway in June for a couple of weeks kayaking and I have convinced my mate to take my bike so hopefully I can do a few days bikepacking while I'm up there  and I'm looking for some advice from anyone that has bikepacked there. We are staying near Otta which is near the R...

Re: 650b+ Older Fargo

Sorry it's not a ranger I have on the front of my Jones it's a 3.0 Bridger, which measures 76mm on a 45mm id scraper rim, I've got a trailblazer on the back which is 67mm on a 40mm id scraper rim. I found this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cec5nxU8-A0 video where the guy measures a wtb ranger, might...

Re: 650b+ Older Fargo

I just converted a Jones 29er to 650b wheels, before I could only fit a 29x2.3 in the back but since the tyre is further back it's not easy to compare and will depend on your chainstay design. I used a WTB trailblazer 2.8 in the back which is designed to go in 29ers, it's got a slightly narrower tre...

WTD 27.5 rear wheel

Hi, I'm after a 27.5 rear wheel, ideally 135mm spaced but if there are adaptors available then I might be able to make it work. It's mostly to try out a wider 27.5 tyre on a 29er frame so doesn't need to be super fancy.

Let me know what you've got :-bd

Re: 175mm 30t narrow-wide cranks

Yes sorry I could have included more info, I forget how many standards there are now.

175mm length
68/73mm hollowtech bb fitting (can include an okayish deore bb if you need)
76mm bcd 30tooth narrow wide chainring
Boost spacing
Basically unbranded as they were OE on a genesis tarn

The copies I saw on ebay seemed to extend the hanger down rather than replace the part on a shimano mech like the Goatlink does?

Re: Wanted - 29 plus front wheel

Not got a wheel but I have a RaceFace arc 45 rim that I build up and rode a few times before realising the tyres on it didn't fit my frame, I need to get rid of it so PM if you're interested.

Selling a pair of cranks I bought on here and barely used, I think they came off a Genesis tarn.

Good solid pair of cranks :-bd

I've got one, I think it's a tiagra but it is a braze-on fitting. You can get adaptors like this https://www.tredz.co.uk/.M-Part-Front-D ... _45217.htm so you could make it work.

You can have it for £4 to cover postage and one beer

Re: Free stuff - midge bars, 29er tyres and rims

I was thinking about Geax tyres on my ride yesterday, the scratch and sniff I have running on my old kona won't see me through the winter mud. how do you rate them? I didn't use them for long to be honest, they seemed fine for bikepacking but aren't sold as tubeless compatible, which is why I got s...

Surly Ogre frame and Salsa Enabler forks

Hi all, Looking to sell my 20in green Surly Ogre frame with black Salsa enabler forks, this means you can run two rear wheels for ultimate hub swappability or run a fat front just like Jeff Jones  It's the older version of the Ogre so takes 135mm rear wheel and up to a 2.5 tyre. Frame and fork...

I might be interested, I've not done an organised event like this though, isn't it a bit crowded with so many people? I can imagine struggling to find a hedge that doesn't already have a bikepacker sleeping in it..

How many days do people do it over?
