Re: LOCK -strong and light [so probly not cheap]

Interesting that there's now an Ottolock Version 2. I wonder what they changed. Edit - https://bikerumor.com/2017/12/04/ottolock-v2-updates-durable-lightweight-combination-cafe-bike-lock/ Had V1 kickstarter and it had a rubber tip that felt off pretty quickly, they replaced with V2 (and provided re...

Re: Garmin Dakota Mount - 3D Printed

Currently got the guys at raceware direct looking at a similar thing but putting a garmin quarter turn mount on the back. Opens up a raft of possibilities for mounts out front etc, and makes transfer between bikes way easier. now that would be brilliant, keep us posted on that possibility, unless D...

Re: SPOT Tracker Renewal Fees - Being Gouged?

I got the dreaded renewal notice and luckily my credit card has expired, didn't stop then processing it though, despite my cancellation. Luckily the bank picked it up as fraudulent activity. I have started using bubbler on my phone instead with £9 for the app and Spotwalla tracking pages. wor...

Quit work in March and become a cycling hobo.
Very limited budget will mean riding everywhere and as much wild camping as possible, can't wait.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

some swamp and bog riding over winter is getting me up to 40x40 now it gets hard. Need to plan some base camp trips away to hit areas.
good fun in the planning too.

did a blog a while back, the KML download from veloviewer comes in handy.

Re: Do I want a tent?

I have a Z-paks Cuban pyramid shelter which is great as stu says, inside bivy and under that nice and warm and able to cope with all the elements. There are times when I stop on a campsite, mainly to get showered and chill and I want to go off site, and I am not comfortable leaving my kit "on s...

Re: Hub dynamos, USB chargers and stuff...

Top tip is be sure to fit a switch. Ive killed 3 cycle2charges and a iguro d1 mk1 by over heating the internals by riding at high speed with no load (fully charged or cable not plugged in) - thanks to andrew at igaro for taking the time to explain. So when the replacement igaro mk5 came i was sure ...

Right angled ones would be more reliable, anyone found a reliable source for those.

Amazing how long the MK1 Revo has been in production without updates, an on off switch was hinted at long ago.
Having said that my has had heavy use and has been faultless........ (kiss of death now of course)

Re: More thoughts from up the ladders.

Had a wakeup this year when a fit healthy cycling friend passed suddenly after mysteriously contracting Sepsis. Re: Transcontinental 2017 - TCRNO5

RIP Frank another tragic loss. One thing on the risks, doing these events i have certainly ridden on many roads i would never consider riding on normally. On two occasions i have truly feared for my life on a bike, in the TCR and in the Transam. Yet still i do it thinking i have the risks managed. A...

Re: A new event - possibly.

If it involves a camping weekend would be interested.
Like the idea of no pitting as then no penalty for not having helpers, and encourages riders to ride to the event, take part and ride home, old skool

How about a bonus lap for those that ride there, camp and race.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

I like the challenge that my square consists of routes ridden from home to grab squares, means planning longer and longer rides.
Lost interest in looking at other riders squares when they just drive out to a spot and then ride the bike for a few miles to grab tiles.

All credit to the guy, but he likes making it hard for himself doesn't he. Re: Guy Martins round Britain

Have been messing about with routes to do this for some time......it's a bloody long way, 2300+ miles. had hoped to do a little "dark" race round the coast one day. 250 miles a day is monumental, but made a little easier with someone supporting you, cutting out all the food and sleep findi...
