Re: Can we talk about jockey wheels?

I'm a fan of the cheap and cheerful ones. cheap enough to replace often and carry a spare,, and I go through many. Easy to lube the bush and won't size on you like a bearing.

Re: Chain rotation?

I rotate many chains, especially in winter, think I have about six 9 speed ones hung up on a knitting needles right now. I can see their full length for comparison quickly, and can take an active one off the bike and check how it compares quickly. With no income I have learnt to make them last ages,...

i have all the patches, but this year I don't think I can be arsed.
I enjoyed getting something out of Crikey, how much for free, now that has gone

Kudos to them for inspiring people to get away from Xmas excess and outdoors, until now.

Re: Metal rod bending - racks

Good post, keeping an eye on this.
Just made myself a basic front rack, but for speed just made the top surface out of sheet Ally, intending to make a tubed surface next winter.
Since I quit work I'm missing my endless supply of top grade stainless tubing though

Re: Do you ever count how much crap you have?

I still use the XTR960 triple daily, rings not easy to come by now Sadly its a set from a M970 crankset so wont fit My 960 is "jonesed " and used on the Single speed - not that easy to get the middle ring but not as hard as the rest Ah M970 got one of those too on a worthless 26" Ibi...

Re: Do you ever count how much crap you have?

I do but most if it too good to throw out but not really of any use - 3 x9 speed XTR rings anyone? My worst bit is having a seperate wardrobe for cycling gear - it has way more clothes than my actual clothes. YES, I still use the XTR960 triple daily, rings not easy to come by now. Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Looks like the number one slot in the BearBones all-time square tickers list is now firmly out of my grasp though, as Jack Peterson has come storming through in the last few weeks, and is rapidly heading towards the top of the UK chart Big jump PJ was at last getting a tricky one on a farm in the F...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Pete, not sure if it counts if you were on a tandem - I mean there's no evidence you did it under your own steam. Could have been the other rider doing all the work..... That's pretty impressive though, but I think we need a major lifestyle change to get anywhere near Jack P  Time rich ...

Ah Servalan, an early passion :o Still use Tracklogs a lot, so here's hoping you get that off the ground Dave. I have been using Brouter a lot lately. https://brouter.de/brouter-web/#map=8/52.357/-0.552/standard No OS maps, or online route storage but it's useful for uploading several tracks on top ...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

I looked at the VV leaderboard only yesterday (it is on your VV summary page) and saw that I am in 7th place for 2020 with 18x18. Just ahead of me on 19x19 are Jack Petersen and local rider to me Pete Johnson or PeeJay. Hope to catch them by the weekend although they may have pushed on further. I h...

I got interviewed by a cycling weekly bod about this tile hunting lark on Friday, so it looks like there will be an article in the cycling comic about it in the future, not that I ever buy it

Crackpot looks like a good alternative to the Mille Pennine. Do you know if there are overnight controls on this? The info seems sketchy about that. I'd go for the Mille Pennines it is a cracking tour of the lakes and dales and the one stop location for the three nights works well as you can arrive...

My Singular Pegasus
The introduction to the increased traction of 29" and a return to having fun being rigid and singlespeed.
Classy, light, it was too good to be true, as it turned out it was.
We did everything together then it broke my heart.

Re: gypsies.com - the demise & alternatives

Must explore what is changed. i found GPSies was brilliant for allowing you to add waypoints which then convert to Cue points in a TCX file for use on a Wahoo Element, the only other way i have seen to allow this is RWGPS if you pay the $80 a year fee. Also good at converting a GPX with embeded wayp...
