Re: Dynamo Hub setup issues - HELP!

Just connect your new light directly to the dynamo by doubling up the wire connection if you intend to keep it, its what its desingned for. Doing a quick google it looks like the light has some capacitive stop reserve. Your problem is your trying to mix a dynamo powered device with an exposure devic...

Re: Dynamo Hub setup issues - HELP!

For issue 2. Use the multimeter on resistance and without turning the wheel check for a reading across the two hub terminals. This should be very low, mine measures 2.5 ohms. This is the coil of the generator. If there is no reading then the rotation has severed a connection internally, the coil wir...

Re: Gear changing and braking advice please

Cheap as chips and good levers here http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-r400-brake-levers/ have some of these and they come with full set of cables (although they are too short for disc brakes you can use one) The road shifters will be two cogs too short for the required pull for the MTB mech, tried tha...

Confirmed he's round our house next Tuesday, better get the mountains of food in then.
Ready for a low sleep night.
A bit sudden, but really looking forward to providing support, I'm guessing you had to cancel James.

Re: For the armchair SPOT watchers

Rode with Steve as he passed by tonight, in great spirits despite a testing day in the rain and now misty cold.
Lights would appear to be an issue already for him, one thing that surely is highly advanced compared to Tommy Godwin's attempt.

Re: For the armchair SPOT watchers

Rode down to see the man in action on day 1, one hell of a challenge when you think about the fact that even a days inactivity for any reason will create added stress. The fact it "appears" to have become a race is one hell of a twist, imagine riding for 65000 miles for the year, yet the o...

Re: Next year, I will ....

Transcontinental entry is in, so riding everywhere in preparation for that mainly.
And big negotiations to get to Kiwi end to end in 2016 which falls in same holiday allowance year.
Off Road might take more of a backseat.....but then I spotted a potential Welsh 200 thing ;-) Ian

Went for a "how many miles can I do in a day" ride last Easter on road but MTB burlycrosser, I rode to the Severn bridge and back from Northants. 284 pretty chilled miles for a coffee and cake ;-)

Re: Dynamo hub USB device - have your say!

Having used a Dynamo and home built charger and a Kemo on several backpacking and road tours for two years, here's my thoughts; 1. Not a fan of bullet connectors they corrode to much for me, have had many faults at work and on motorbikes because of them. Sealed waterproof pre-made connectors are che...

My plan is to go on a gokart racing beer fueled night on Friday, get up late and curse myself for having fun. Swear a lot when I realise its a long way to drive to Wales. Start late then probably fall asleep on the bike Saturday night ;-) oh and swear even more if I have to yomp through two many bog...

Always loved the look of the Mountaincycles San Andreas, finally bought one after 10 years of lust and it was not a great ride. Then an Ibis Mojo SL became the dream bike, finally bought one of them when the prices dropped, and its been ridden once in two years. Its just art in the garage. (Anybody ...
