Re: The post man's been ...

Postie delivered a SRAM XO1 crankset for my Transmitter after discovering a crack in the original left crank arm while washing the WRT off the bike. Also new bearings for the Hope BB, I can feel it going faster already

Re: Improving Bikepacking

Not having riding buddies is what is stopping me doing a proper trip more often... Nahhh...that's not it ; ) Get out solo...even if overnight. You're missing a trick here. Solo = go at your own pace...so when you get to the top of that climb for a killer view...or you find that sweet bivvy spot, yo...

Re: Winter gravel

My Camino came with WTB Resolutes on and I had 5 punctures in the first week of riding it. 3 possibly 4 were Blackthorns and one looked like a flint cut. Eventually got the rear set up tubeless and 4 tubeless plugs later and another 2 X 100ml bottles of sealant I binned the tyre and put a Gravel Kin...

Re: Backpacking TLS

Some say that the whole ultra light weight movement was started by an American fellow by the name of Ray Jardine. He wrote a number of books on how he does things and is also supposedly one of the first people to use a "quilt" rather than a full sleeping bag. He also almost never uses a te...

Re: Wildlife

Had a very cool encounter on Friday evening while riding along a bridleway. A bird dropped out of a tree just ahead of me and flew fast and low away down the bridleway before shooting up into a tree. As I got close it did the same again. Did that 3 times until the bridleway ended at a lane where it ...

Re: What does the word "Bikepacking" mean to you?

I agree that Bikepacking is a state of mind rather than a physical thing.
There is a famous quote by G K Chesterton that sums this up for me; The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he came to see.
