Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
 We need a special triplicate form to fill in. Pink copy sent to BB Towers for approval, blue copy to Phil for the files, yellow copy retained by the prospective BaMee and to be made available for perusal upon request by the BaM Inspectors during said iffy bivvy. Some of the more remote spots w...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
To be honest I don't think you even need to bother with the rollers. Just riding from your door to the paddock would count. During lockdown I rode 50 feet down our garden and pitched next to the pond and that counted. Admittedly that was governed by Emergency Rules with gardens allowed. I even rode ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Well that's certainly an interesting one. Considering some past insane endeavours on these threads it may even be deemed completely reasonable. Ooh, I can hear some teeth-sucking on the compliance and ethics committee (think the Verderer's court for ditch sleeping https://www.verderers.org.uk/verder...

Re: One for Reg - The Slate of Tintergel
Arthur was a fable (I never actually knew that 😆) Eh??? 'Course it was all true! Just ask Glastonbury! Or, er, obviously Tintagel. Or Winchester. Oh, and Caerleon because obviously Arthur was, er, Welsh. And Camelford/Camelot. Or even Eamont Bridge in Cumbria. Or Monty Python. Of course it was true...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
We need BB username badges! [EDIT: oh sorry, Bob, just retrospectively seen your post above so I've inadvertently repeated the front/back problems you pointed out  ] I sometimes think that too. Of course some of the older versions of BBB jerseys had the option of putting names on the back. Th...

Re: One for Reg - The Slate of Tintergel
Thanks for that. Mmm, people tend to think 'North Wales' when it comes to slate, but of course it's mined/quarried in other, er, countries, too. Even if they don't count  . Talking of Tintagel, I'm pretty sure Arthur's round table was hewn from a single block of slate, but admittedly I wasn't ...

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?
Cycling in the Netherlands is a joyous experience. Helen and I used to go gigpacking to see the Toy Dolls every year in the Netherlands. Must get back on it I'm planning the same thing. Pick an appealing gig in Amsterdam, head to Harwich, cycle to Amsterdam, have a couple of days cycling around the...

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?
5 of us are now getting the ferry to Amsterdam, on bikes, and doing a leisurely 250Km loop using eco rated hostels and BnB's. We'll buy local etc :-bd If I was a kid (still am) I know which adventure I'd prefer. Not the flying one  . Generally kids love it if they're active, totally involved ...

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?
It's on all of us. We can make a case for blame-shifting like this but until we vote and spend with these considerations as a priority you can be 100% sure nothing will change. Politics and capitalism would love us all to do nothing or wait for top-down influence, it suits them fine. Agree entirely...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
The rain Gods may often be against you but the other deities seem to be on your side, like the God of being offered dry places to sleep and the God of unexpected breakfasts. After all this time I've got a finely honed way of saying my prayers. Oh, and the sacrificial offerings probably help as well...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
I had originally decided to travel to Ruabon (the nearest station to Llangollen, to meet Lu/FrogAtTheFarriers) via Birmingham because I could take a “local” train ("for local people") from here to Birmingham International then one more direct to Ruabon via Shrewsbury, making it just one ch...

All over the place that was  . Is he for or against? For or against the flying bit or the whole concept of far-away mega-events? Personally I'll just hang on to his final phrase: "Will taking all the time and the expense and the environmental concerns into consideration encourage more pe...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
I have thought about it, as I agree, it's a bit mad we haven't met in the middle somewhere yet. Would love to do a bit more riding in The Chiltern Hills, as I've pretty much just been on the Icknield Way and would like to explore them a bit more. Not adverse to a slower couple of days, assuming I r...
