Re: Winter reading recommendations?

I've recommended this in the past but 'The crunch of gravel under thrumming tyres' by C A Green is possibly one of the best cycling books I've ever read. Tried to get that as a pressie for a friend's 50. Waterstones looked good but failed.Emailedthe publishers, no luck. Anyone know of any shops wit...

Great news Dave. Si, (Darbeze) is the other end of the bay and I'm between you both.

Two local kayak clubs, Ibex in Brixham and Paignton.

There's a few nice hills around too...

Good luck with the move. Cheers Rob

Re: Todays ride

Down here in Devon, the snow was on the moors on Wednesday & I had a lovely kayak down the upper Dart... Thursday was completely different, Sun, no wind but still a little cool. Headed out from Paignton towards Exeter. Had to pop into a garage to get some disposable gloves for under my gloves as...

Sounds tempting, maybe need a lot of training but may be up for a 200km. That Wales place isn't known for its flat bits!

Re: Knighton TCW

Thanks guys for the advice and the offer of a place to sleep. Maps turned up on Tuesday. So drove up to Knighton and parked at the station. I think the romance of reaching the sea is reduced by the emptiness of Dovey junction but heading West is still the preferred option for an English person. (Hea...

Re: Knighton TCW

I can see the logic of having the wind behind you but is the riding better than the difference in ascent/descent? I thought there was more down hill E-W?
I guess it's because the Imba guide is E-W that people ride it that way and it's more romantic to end in Wales and the sea

Re: Westcountry Way

been meaning been meaning to do this for ages, how do you think it would ride the other way round? The route is probably better going from Plymouth to Minehead as the best descents are that way. There is some good riding the other way but you'ld be pushing up some class trails. Plus steam train to ...

Re: Water carrying and filtration

Two water bottles and steritabs.
One for drinking and one filled up with a tablet doing its stuff.
Worth mentioning that I don't get out to ride enough so this is based on a few WRT's and others will have more experience. I guess it depends on where you are getting the water from?

Goes nicely with the Westcountry Way guide. :-)
