Re: The post man's been ...

A Berghaus hyper-condom-smock thing. I can't believe anything that fragile comes with a 'lifetime' warranty. Imagine if they made a bivi bag from that stuff... The lifetime of the product, not the owner I bet, i.e. as long as you'd expect a paper thin garment to last if used in harsh conditions. :w...

Re: BB200 Route.

Well, I've had a look at the route now. First impressions are that getting lost (or at least missing a turn) will be too easy. I'm quite taken aback by the number of twists and turns. I also now see why Knighton could be so important. I suspect that the Coop in Llandiloes might be getting some of my...

Re: BB200 Spotwalla Location Page

I'm in as CC. Looks like 4 so far. (That's a point, is there a start list yet or is it still too dynamic?)

It would nice if folk using this service made a small contribution to Spotwalla.

Re: BB200 Route.

Keep going folks. I'm loving all the research you're doing. Hoping I can log in on Thursday night and crib off everyone else.

I'm also hoping to make Knighton (night town?) for food, maybe do a couple of hours riding in the dark then find somewhere to bed down for a few hours..

Re: Cairngorms Loop

Is that official that it now starts/finishes at Aviemore as per the write up? This route deviates from the original ITT route making it more ridable and more touring friendly. The start of the route is Aviemore allowing for a better resupply option before heading out. It also avoids a steep hike-a-...

Re: Cairngorms Loop

Did the lower loop this year, well most of it and it was truly stunning landscape. Well worth a venture up, i've also read they had snow the other day as well already! There was a little sleet on one of the summits. Not sure I'd count that as actual snow :-) FWIW, we also had some snow lying on the...

Since we're all doing it... Currently got sleeping bag, RAB bivvy and mat in a bar bag. (I've a lightweight "boil-in-the-bag" MW bivvy that might be swapped in) Some dry clothes, 1st Aid/personal care stuff in a seat pack (Spot on top) Tools/patches/tube in a Revelate Gas tank (in front of...

Re: First overnighter - your stories

Plenty of overnighters with family/scouts/cadets and with mates but didn't get into bikes until 2005 really so...... October 2006. A mate and I had been discussing a thread on STW where someone was trying to determine the most remote place (furthest from a road) in the UK. We reckoned it would be so...

The bike: - (95% sure I'll be on my) fully rigid On-one 'Lurcher' 29er - Maxxis 'Ardent' (f) and 'Crossmark' (r) tyres - Main triangle kept completely clear for shouldering bike during HAB sections. That's my decision too. Removed the chubby wheels and fitted the Ardent/Crossmark 29ers. I reckon I'...

Re: Chinese titanium design-it-yourself Bikepacking bike any

NO, I'd probably talk to Brant at Pact Bikes if I was looking at the Ti custom route. He's designed a lot of bikes... That. Give him a good idea of what you're after and let him worry about the rest. We must have had 30 or so emails flying back and forth when I was getting him to supply my B+/29er ...

I'm just assuming the GPX file is from a ridden track and is therefore more accurate than the mapping.
