Re: Critique my route GNT alternate

The bit after traversing east/west along the Cheviot Hills ridge line where you turn south is over MOD property so you'll need to check that it's not being used. If it is then continue west and then south past Spithope Bothy but don't use the bridleway there as it's an overgrown nightmare.

Tom Gibbs official finish time - 49 hours and 20 minutes.
Previous best Alex Pilkington - 56 hours 29 minutes.

Tom reckons a sub 48 hour is achievable.

Still going strong but slowing down which is hardly surprising. He's still got some of the hardest sections to do. The climb up to Dollar Law, the highest point of the route and the Devils Beeftub bikehike.

Re: Dot Watch Hopefully Fast Borders 350 Attempt

I see you have changed the section from Jed to Hawick Ray to take account of the river bank collapse. You have actually routed the wrong way up a one-way street - Princes Street in Hawick is one way west to east since last year. There is also a much better off-road path from Burnfoot to the Leisure...

Tom Gibbs on the borders 350. He said he's hoping to get close to Alex Pilkington's time. There's a post on "your trips and adventures" with a link to his spot.

Up till now he's been on gravel 98% of the time. In fact it's gravel all the way to Spithope Bothy just before the Cheviot Hills ridgeline. That will slow him down.

Sounds good Ray - looking forward to seeing the updated route. :-bd I see that a few years back someone set up a tracking page with Spotwalla. Did this work well? Seems to work with either a spot tracker (which i don't have) or a smartphone app. Would this be something others would be interested in...
