Re: Barkley Marathons chitchat

Just twigged thats her that won the spine race back in 2019. Makes what we get up to look a bit lightweight   Anyway, that book, The Finishers: a brief insight into the chapters. Fascinating read it seems. Imagine reading the stories of the 15 finishers over the past 37+ years. Judging f...

Re: 13/14 April: Berwyns from Chirk/Gobowen Railway Station

Thanks v much for this invite Pete. I'd probably have considered it if the bike was already ready and I knew it's the end of April. I don't really do pubs, so - hypothetically speaking and for future ref - lets say if you/others were going for a pub lunch/drink, would it be too much headache to arra...

Kids bikes!

Bit of a vague title, sorry. My little man is going on 10 soon and at some point I've told him we'll get him a new bike. But I don't plan on getting ripped for something substandard off the shelves. Only slight problem is that I do want it to look mint for him. I can swrvice the Shimano calipers and...

Re: The post man's been ...

An 11 speed cassette, not in itself of much interest but, this will be my last ever parcel from Wiggle/CRC  Since I got back into cycling in 2007 they've always been there when I needed them. There wasn't even a last packet of Haribo, end of an erea. Just realised and went to read the reports....

What diameter and drop is it please Shaf? For a moment I thought I was dreaming you'd asked me this. I messaged you the thread with it on but then couldn't find your Q in the Bargain Alert thread. Let me know and I can resend if you never got the details yet Mr Bear. Pff the top of my head I believ...

Re: WTD: 27.5 boost rear wheel

Hi Faustus... You sorted for a wheel yet. I just opened another cupboard and out popped a DT Swiss M1700 wheelset. Front has been dismantled so rim only but rear is alive and kicking. It's an XD freehub and if you google it full specs can be found. Smooth bearings. About 35mm internal width without ...

Put myself down for a trail marathon in Sept. The hope is that in training (very steady progressiveness but also focusin on injury prevention) the weight might well fall off :-bd

Nice1 Phil. Reminds me that I need to think about something other than Shimano for the SC... Anyhow... After lots of faff over the week I was ready and freed up for a ride. No work so thankfully no excuses to not get out. Just needed some fettling on the steel bike as I couldn't be bothered to fetch...

Well done for sticking with it Shaf :-bd Although i have a strange mixed feeling of being both relieved & concerned :???: P.S. the ‘10’ on the head of the bolt is it’s tensile rating.. I get your concern. No, they've both gone in nicely without any sideqys stress torqued em to 80nm so hopefully...

My proper garage (now) is Lex Tec in Sheffield. Including parts and labour with 20% VAT... The last bill came to £1300 (or £1150) - 1x front bearing; water pump + coolant; rebuilding radiator [it's a thing]; 2 x front discs cos he walloped and broke it when removing disc for hub; sundries [£5 but I ...
