Re: Christmas!

Have never really been a Christmas person and been incredibly lucky that this year the girlfriend has said I’m allowed to head out a pedal before meeting her family for dinner. Out at 6am to get away from the Christmas stuff and back at 4pm quick shower then dinner. The whole life story in a card do...

Re: I'd just like to say ...

Thanks Stu for keeping this place alive and thanks to everyone who contributes to this place.

Don’t personally know many people on here but feel like I do and need to make more effort to get along to things.

Great job Annie. :-bd

Took me longer in the summer and dealing with so much darkness can’t be much fun.

Re: Can you bike packraft on a budget?

Never seen anything like the roll up wellies before and was getting a bit tired of having wet feet when going packrafting but they could be a game changer. Thanks for the idea.

Did you find a uk seller for the paddle or did you order it from Germany?

Re: 2022 Plans (to go with the 2021 Reflections thread)

Have had plans for each year and never really achieved them so next year will be nice and simple.

To reignite the love for cycling and wild spaces I once had.
To just get on the bike and see where I end up. Less organising and planning and more cycling hopefully would be a great outcome for 2022.

Re: 2021 reflections

Felt like 2021 has been a quick year but has little highlights personally. Favourite ride/trip/outing A nice short loop from my house I now do last day of each month. It’s 20 miles loop but it has a nice bench half way round where I can sit in peace and quiet and look out over a Loch and contemplate...

Still, both awesomely cool, inspirational people anyway.

Re: Storm Arwen damage - Cairngorms etc?

Thanks but doing nothing special just trying my best to help folk who are starting to really struggle. The amount of cuppas and food we have been offered from people is heartwarming to say the least and makes everything worth it. Electric companies have been struggling for years with the whole must ...

Re: Storm Arwen damage - Cairngorms etc?

Can safely say I have never seen destruction like this. Spent the past week out on saws with SSE trying to clear some of the mess. Can easily believe it will take another few weeks before some folk have power again. Feel for everyone without power but the amount of abuse the power line workers are g...

I do like a small dram and definitely agree that the Lidl stuff is pretty good for the price. Tasted it at the highland show a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised so now it’s the bottle for guests and bivy nights.

Excellent write up Bridget and hopefully heading up September to pedal it again as enjoyed it so much the first time but rushed it over 4 days and didn’t see anything other than the stem cap of my bike.

Don’t think I have ever seen the rivers that low but it’s a great route.

Doing the inner loop next then?😂

Having spent the past few years of my life converting vans and working on them daily would definitely agree with anything but a vw. For what it’s worth unless your dead set on the nc500 I would look somewhere else. It’s been mayhem the past few months with all this staycation carry on. If you set on that route then the Belach na baa isn’t too bad to ride up there’s a lot worse climbs along the route. Most small villages will hav...

Re: Mull Lochbuie - Carsaig

MacQueens bros in Oban used to do long term car parking and would give you a lift to the ferry terminal if needed so might be worth a call to see if they still are. If not then there’s a few roads that offer free parking and are safe enough to leave vehicles.

Have one on my full face helmet and as said above it’s not something I would bother looking for when buying a new helmet.

Does the job ok but never had a problem with conventional helmet buckles even with gloves on.
