Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon
Thanks both - in my head the ideal bag has velcro round the bars and a pair of thin straps that loop under the forks (e.g. newer feedbags, wildcat lion etc.). This is all theoretical but should keep the bag off the headtube and cables... Maybe I'll try the ortieb or similar with some DIY straps at ...

Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon
Don't suppose you've tried the front pouch thing attached to the bars on it's own? Says you can do that on the website but no pictures... Any thoughts on how it might work out? Edit: found some photos on bikepacking.com review, looks like simple velcro round the bars and headtube attachment :( yes ...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)
Don't you just love it when you're parked up in your van for the night, have just cracked a beer and then a man covered in blood knocks on your door! A guy had crashed his car just down the road from me and needed a bit of help! Police and ambulance have just left... He's ok. I think he was quite g...

Bike back from servicing from Keep Pedalling. Throwing bags on to take photos of setup and kit list. The usual is in place.

Re: Race / Summer Sleeping Bag
Some races (the High Peak Marathon is one) stipulate a sleeping bag and two man tent(!) between the four man team for emergency use. Given the size of some rucksacks being carried when I did it I suspect that something like one of the race elite bags is the sleeping bag. Then again fell runners hav...

Then why bring a bag?Richard G wrote:I struggle to sleep anyway, so not sleeping in a thin summer bag is much the same as not sleeping in a cosy winter bag.
But again, this is for summer use or for emergencies only. Warmth isn't going to be too much of an issue.
Honest point.

Re: Race / Summer Sleeping Bag
How warm do you sleep is the first question I'd ask.
Cold sleeper - so I carry a warmer bag and vent if I get to warm, a whopping 620g. 200g penalty I'm able to cut from other places.
Light bags = cold sleeps in my experience.
Cold sleep = crap Greg.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)
Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere. In rare case of emergency, is there an emergency service in the Highlands that my SPOT contact should get in touch with? Just wanting to allay her worries. Pressing the bad button on the SPOT contacts emergency services through it's own channels - only use th...

If, if you can stretch to £200 - you can find Sony RX100s at that price. Very, very good camera for its size.

Re: Tour Divide 2016
Have you mounted one KCNC smart bar to the other? Nope, one mounts the light - Plug3 and it's internals. The other raises up the eTrex which is now glued to it's bracket and has the back Dremmeled to get to the quarter turn screw for the battery compartment. Greg, I had a KCNC mount like that. I fo...
