Re: A question - everyone can play.

Yep. Grew up 5 of us away in a 12 ft Sprite Alpine caravan towed by a Rover 100. That was 55 years ago. These days we still all meet up. Mum now 87 in her wee Caddy Camper car. Sister in a caravan, me and other sister in campervans. Love it. Should have been at Kirkcudbright this weekend. Hopefully ...

Re: What Handlebar Bell - I know forgive me

Think JackT nails the need for every bike to have a bell and the nuances... Good shout on the Crane ENE - really good clear sound that carries far. (Awaits flaming and comments of "how ******* much??")....I have a Spurcycle bell on two bikes. Both bought second hand, but still horrifically...

Re: 29 plus carbon fork options

I recently got some of these. Think they were £90 delivered. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32848680650.html? Same as the Selcof that Planet-X are punting for £260. Delivery took 2 months. Really like them. Not noodly, but not overly harsh. 400kms in and teeth still intact and no facial reconstruct...

Re: Wtd: 12x100x1.75 pitch thru axle

I have phoned their UK HQ in Milton Keynes in the past to confirm stock does exist, They may of course be on a reduced service due to the pandemic. One other thing, as will any through axle make sure its well greased before insertion (oer etc etc) and on the Allen Key ones make sure the allen key is...

Re: Wtd: 12x100x1.75 pitch thru axle

Shaf, have Evans confirmed Trek UK have actual stock? If not you might be in fir a long wait. What about something like this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/J-L-Thru-Axle-100-142-12mm-20g-26g-for-Trek-Madone-Fork-Frame-Front-Rear-Hub-/292991370753 Bit cheaper and assume you carry an allen key so dont ne...

Re: OCD question of the week or day

Assuming this is a 2 x setup? Not sure I see the point of a 40t rear cassette and full sized chainrings (unless Silver chainset is an issue). Just downsize the front rings. Very happy with my GRX 46/30 chainset and 11-36 cassette. 30/36 gives a really good climbing gear and 46/11 is more than I need...

Thats the hack I was trying to think of :-bd Rotor bolt glued into piece of dowell.

Re: Nipples!

The washers are essential for that type of rim and mean a much stronger wheel (not going there on washers v eyelets before someone starts  ). Have used normal nipples with the washers, never built using squorx. Believe can easily make own driver for them. Just to add i am really pleased with th...

Re: GCN does bikepacking

Sorry just to add, the reason why I picked up on GCN is they are a particularly bad example. Out of the 13 presenters, all are white and only one is female. Manon Lloyd. Katherine Moore left the site 8 months ago quite unexpectedly as Emma Pooley did before. They are the mamil top gear. I think they...
