Re: WTD: WTB Nano Race 2.1 29er - Pair

Hi Greg
You may be in luck
I have got a pair of Nano 2.1 29" ( 622 x 52 )
They say WTB race, 60 TPI, Aramid bead, DNA rubber compound, XC on them
One is completely unused, the other has been used a couple of times ( with tubes so no sealant gunge )
how does £30 + £2.85 postage sound.

Hi, good luck finding one. I did exactly the same as you and it took 6months before i found someone selling an xl one. The Salsa size guide is a bit rubbish. I'm only 6' tall but ride an XL.

Re: tarp tent help

I like my lunar solo, It's is a very simple single pole pyramid tent with a sewn in groundsheet and bug proof door. Headroom for sitting up is good and the porch is large porch for gear and cooking. It packs small and is acceptably light. Mine is 677g + 80g for one of Stu's excellent poles + 8 x 10g...

Re: Mechanical Disk Brake Levers

Speed dials and Pauls love levers compact both work well with my BB7's
The speeds dials are inexpensive and 152 - 165g depending on model
The Pauls have a lovely feel, lighter at 125g but expensive new and rare 2nd hand

Re: Head Torches

I'm a big fan of Headtorches that use a single AA battery. They seem to have a better battery life than the 3 x AAA type and spare batteries are available everywhere. Alpkit did one called the Muon recently ( but it now seems to have disappeared ! ) and I have been using a similar Robens one ( Visio...

Improving my groundsheet protector

Tried a sheet of Polycro as a groundsheet protector on my last trip. I cut it 10cm smaller than the groundsheet of the tent There was a light breeze and I had the devils own job trying to get it to stay on the grass whilst I pitched the tent above it. I've thought about very small pegs but worried a...

Re: Milk for tea when bivvying

Nido is readily available in shops that serve the Eastern European communities. There is a bit of a knack to stopping it separating and going grainy when adding to hot tea I find making a slurry first as you would with traditional custard powder helps, as does letting the tea cool a bit. Recently I ...

I've made a Tyvek footprint to protect the groundsheet on my Lunar Solo after reading up on it I used pva glue to hem it all the way round the edge. You end up with 3 thicknesses at the corners I then just hole punched it to add my "guys" made from kite string surprisingly the pva is holdi...

Re: Sleeping Bag Advice..

I find PHD's ratings spot on temp wise. i find that a 1/2 zip bag is useable in temps 10°c warmer than rated and above that it gets too warm. So for mild winter use have a -5°c rated bag ( no zip and drishell outer to cope better with condensation) Then i have a 2°c rated quilt for summer. Quilts ha...

It wasn't a problem and he got some pertex quantum4 fabric. Very happy with the resulting quilt. 470g and volume <4litre...
