Re: Any Sequoia owners?

I've got the stock, base model (in black) Whilst the components are functional, they are not as good as the frame....it is well worthy of upgrading. I have put some hunt 650b wheels on, and it is much better.....I hated the stock wheels, and had to have one replaced under warranty after the hub got ...

Re: Harness mounted on Jones front loop anyone?

It's dead handy.....you can wear it round your waist when off the bike, and you haven't developed a mangina yet, then, when it gets a bit bashed, round the gooch area, strap it to the bars.

Hope this works...! My posting is ruined since photobucket!

This is how I attach my waist pack to the Jones bars.....9 litres, plus some pockets.

Re: Surly update Krampus & Karate Monkey

Don't forget, the wheels are bigger, about 31", so I spin out at about 25-27mph......I don't really want to be going quicker than that anyway!

A buddy of mine bought some crazy bars but sent them back as they were crazy heavy! I don't know if they do different (lighter!) versions though?

I've got the Jones loops on my spearfish, and couldn't imagine using anything else. For long distance stuff, they are spot on.

Re: would you do this?

That hope part further up the thread looks like it would work though? It's taller, which will take up the majority of the 2.5mm gap and it also has a rubber seal fitted....its if it would fit over the existing 'crown race' ....other than that, CK do a load of 'inset' headsets that have all sorts of ...

Love it!
But yeah, forks need painting black! Easy enough to do, just make sure you scuff the old paint up good and proper to give the new paint a good key...then lots of thin coats

It looks nice, if you can get a different set of forks on it and it wasn't about 3xcycle to work amount!

Re: PF30 Bottom bracket conversion

I've used an FSA aluminium sleeve in my spearfish for about two years now....it gets covered in some sort of lock tight, pressed into the big, creaky hole, then you can just thread a hollowtech BB in, and away you go as normal.....I think it was about £10-£15? This one, but half that price! http://w...

Re: Specialized Sequoia

The spyres on my sequoia are excellent. After a proper bedding in process, they have no problem locking the front wheel up. Even in the wet, they are very good. I won't be swapping them out.

Re: Specialized Sequoia

Ive had my Seqouia for nearly a year now, and while it is pretty chubby, at 29lbs with pedals and cages, it is a good bike. The sawtooth tyres are excellent....much better than they should be on dirt, and spot on on Tarmac. Low pressures mean comfort with speed, and the wheels set up tubeless easy w...

Re: New Bike Suggestions

I've got the base model sequoia....it's steel, if that makes a difference to your choice? I really like it....it's very capable. The only thing worth mentioning is the hubs didn't have too much grease in from new, necessitating a new front wheel via warranty. It can run 700c with 42mm tyres, or 650b...

Re: Drivetrain; 1x or compact double ?

Some good advice here...I run aeffect 30t oval and 11-36 on my trek stache, which gets me up everything , although massively steep stuff I sometimes have to stand up (and wish for a smaller gear!). My spearfish is 2x with 36/26 front and 11-36 rear, which is much easier and brilliant when running co...

Never done this before, a bit skint at the moment, it's blimmin miles away and I would be back on duty at 6am on the Monday... I'm going out for a ride in a bit and am going to decide by the time I get back. I'm thinking ride about 30 miles to Epping forest, find some mushy puddle bits and roll arou...
